After Dark: Creole Death & Mourning Tour

New Orleans · Gallier House, 1132 Royal St

Gallier House is presented in a period of mourning, offering a close look at 19th century Creole Catholic practices surrounding death and remembrance. Set after the unexpected passing of James Gallier Jr., the tour traces Mrs. Gallier’s experience of grief and shows how ritual, faith, and community shaped daily life during bereavement in Victorian New Orleans. Rooms are arranged as a household in mourning, with veiled mirrors, wreaths, and examples of hairwork jewelry that once signaled loss. Through authentic furnishings, historical interpretation, and the true stories of the Gallier family and others connected to the home, the experience opens a window into the emotions and customs that guided families through life’s most certain passage. Topics include mourning etiquette, funerals held within the home, the meaning behind attire and jewelry, the role of religion, and the realities of epidemics and high mortality. It also considers how Mr. Gallier Jr.’s death affected those who lived and worked in the residence, offering broader insight into Creole culture and society. This is a history-focused program, not a ghost tour. After the walkthrough, a complimentary libation is offered in the courtyard for quiet reflection in this historic setting.

No special experience is required. A willing heart and readiness to serve are what matter. Modest, covered clothing is requested out of respect for the space, and all tools and cleaning supplies are provided. National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana’s New Orleans Golf Tournament

New Orleans · English Turn Golf & Country Club, 1 Clubhouse Dr

Set at English Turn Golf & Country Club, the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana’s New Orleans Golf Tournament brings golfers and community supporters together for a relaxed day on the course that benefits kidney health across the state. The tournament uses a shotgun start, with breakfast and lunch included, and a Bloody Mary and Screwdriver bar available during registration. Foursomes are encouraged. Kidney disease is often called a silent condition because people can lose significant function before feeling sick. In Louisiana, about one in three people is at risk and many are unaware, so early detection, education, and access to care are essential. The tournament raises awareness of living organ donation, which can change the course for someone awaiting a kidney transplant by offering an alternative to years of dialysis and a path back to better health. Proceeds support the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana’s work throughout the state, including kidney health screenings, patient assistance, education, transportation support, and programs for kidney and transplant patients and their families.

Halloween 2026 - A Silent Film & Live Music Experience

New Orleans · Marigny Opera House, 725 St Ferdinand St

Silent-era cinema meets live sound in a Halloween program at the Marigny Opera House. Two haunting works from the early years of film are paired with an original score by Jeff Pagano for string quartet and electronics, performed live. Charles Klein’s 1928 The Tell-Tale Heart adapts Edgar Allan Poe into a nerve-tightening portrait of guilt, as a killer cannot escape the imagined throb of a buried heartbeat. Louis Feuillade’s 1915 Les Vampires, Episode 3, Irma Vep, starring Musidora, follows its enigmatic antiheroine as she attempts a bold crime while journalist Philippe Guérande draws near to the gang’s secret world. The music comes to life with Kate Walter on violin, Elizabeth Crute Cunha on violin, Sixto Franco on viola, and Jake Fowler on cello, with B. Danos and Jeff Pagano shaping the electronic textures. Psychological fright and surreal intrigue converge in an immersive evening inside one of New Orleans’ most atmospheric venues, where shadows stir and certainty slips away.

2026 Endless Night: New Orleans Vampire Ball

New Orleans · House of Blues, 225 Decatur St

Endless Night returns to New Orleans with the Vampire Carnivale edition, a multi‑day celebration that builds to the New Orleans Vampire Ball in the heart of the French Quarter at the House of Blues. Expect a lavish blend of Venetian masquerade mystique, the pageantry of a vampire court, the charge of a rock show, and the polish of burlesque cabaret. Created by impresario Father Sebastiaan in 1996, the experience has grown from its New York origins to stages in cities across the United States and Europe, with a name inspired by a line from William Blake’s Auguries of Innocence. The program features a Mistress of Ceremonies in Tzarina Hellfire, a signature group howl led by Father Sebastiaan, live musical performances, a best dressed contest hosted by JoHanna Moresco of The Cruxshadows, ritual burlesque by Le Cabaret Vampyre, and Matt V Christ spinning the Endless Night Vampire Top 250 on the main floor. Storytelling and tours are presented by Haunted History Tours, and Patti Negri of Ghost Adventures offers seance and cocktails. The krewe behind the scenes includes Father Sebastiaan as impresario, Victor Magnus as master of the house, Matt V Christ as stage manager, Jonathan Repass as showrunner, Asia Strong curating the bazaar, Tsarina Hellfire as local ambassador, and Josh Suit as sheriff. Throughout the weekend, guests can explore an indoor and garden bazaar with VIP registration, vendors, and stage acts, step into the Salon Noir inside the Parish, revel at the main gala Vampire Ball, dine at the Convivium Banquet aboard the Creole Queen, and wind down in the Babylon VIV Salon within the Foundation Room. Costuming is central to the experience. The bazaar has no dress code, Salon Noir calls for all black attire, the main gala follows the official Endless Night dress standards, and Babylon VIV invites red and black tie formal looks. A themed drink special, the Traditional Bloodbath, mixes equal parts chartreuse, cabernet, and cranberry juice, shaken and served in a wine glass without ice. The phenomenon has drawn attention from major media, including coverage by the New York Times, Revolver Magazine, LA Weekly, and Rolling Stone.

The second set highlights the soulful artistry of Quiana Lynell, a Grammy-nominated songwriter and international award-winning jazz vocalist whose sound blends jazz, blues, and gospel-infused soul. Rooted in Louisiana’s musical traditions and shaped by more than two decades of performance and education experience, Lynell pairs technical command with heartfelt storytelling. Krampus NOLAuf 2026 – 10th Anniversary Parade

    New Orleans · Bywater Neighborhood

    Free

Krampus NOLAuf celebrates ten years as New Orleans original Krampus parade, the largest event of its kind in the United States. The Bywater neighborhood becomes the stage for a roaming spectacle of Krampus, winter folklore figures, and signature groups such as the Sisters of SHHH. Now in its 10th edition since its 2015 founding, this milestone highlights the craftsmanship and imagination that define the Krewe of Krampus and its place in local culture. The parade moves entirely on foot, bringing spectators close to intricate handmade costumes, vivid characters, and a theatrical atmosphere that mixes European winter traditions with the spirit of New Orleans. Plastic beads are not used. Instead, parade-goers may receive distinctive handmade, environmentally minded throws that reflect a more thoughtful approach to celebration. It is also the only parade in New Orleans designed with accessibility at its core. In its fifth year, Accessibility Row offers a dedicated viewing area for people with disabilities, supported by trained volunteers and inclusive measures that help make the experience welcoming for all. The route will be announced, and admission is free and open to the public. First timers and returning fans will find a creative, community oriented celebration that stands apart in the city.
