This guided stroll along the woodland paths of Moncus Park is led by the Conservation Team. Along the route, guides highlight native trees, local wildlife, and seasonal changes, and share why these wooded areas are vital to the park’s ecosystem. The experience is relaxed and welcoming for families, nature enthusiasts, and anyone interested in slowing down and learning along the trail. The Dog Stop celebrates its 11th annual Halloween Costume Contest with a festive day for canine companions. Dogs who arrive in costume receive daycare for $10, and a spooky photo session will capture each outfit. Prizes will be awarded in categories including Best Dressed, Cutest Couple, Best Friends, along with additional awards.

At Clayton Homes of Lafayette, visitors can explore the homes, pick a pumpkin, and see whether the surprise is a trick or a treat. A playful twist suggests the sweetest reward might be simply finding the house.

Southwest Safety Training in Lafayette offers a weekend driver education course for teens ages 14 years 9 months through 17. This 38 hour program is required for those working toward a learner’s permit or driver’s license. Classroom instruction runs on Saturdays and Sundays across two weekends, while the driving portion is scheduled separately based on availability. Each behind the wheel session is private, one to one. Participants complete 30 hours of classroom learning and 8 hours of driving. A defensive driving certificate with a $50 value is included, which may qualify for an auto insurance discount depending on the insurer. For added convenience, Southwest Auto Title provides on-site, privatized DMV services for ID upgrades and testing related to permits and licenses. Road skills test fees and ID fees are not included in the course price.
