Step by step, participants will carve and shape the cake, build the tall cone with internal supports, sheath the form in black fondant, and finish it with an oversized satin-style bow, playful ribbons, lace-like edible trims, bright accents, and other eye-catching details. Skills covered include working with fondant and modeling chocolate, crafting dimensional ribbons and curls, using edible paper for decorative elements such as polka dot ribbons, applying edible pastes and related mediums, preparing components efficiently with practical do’s and don’ts and troubleshooting, and bringing edible components and structural supports together into one cohesive design. All project materials are provided. Bringing drinks and snacks is welcome, and an apron and light jacket can add comfort. Some elements will be prepared ahead so time together focuses on carving, construction, decorating, embellishing, and final assembly. Admission is $175, with an optional $87.50 deposit. NUNU offers the space and hospitality in support of open exchange, yet it does not set agendas, curate content, direct facilitation, or claim ownership of individual tables. Practitioners, caregivers, elders, artists, farmers, and community members meet to share knowledge, ask questions, and learn from one another in an informal, respectful setting. Conversation, listening, and relationship are at the heart of the gathering, with recognition that health is influenced by culture, environment, food, movement, and connection. The Health & Wellness Table is open to the public and free to attend. It alternates with the Indigenous Table, and both are followed by the Theology Table and Meditative Drumming. Participants can spend the day, enjoy coffee or tea or lunch, and move between gatherings as they wish. Facilitation is provided by James Knapp, an integrative wellness consultant whose work focuses on clarity, coherence, and thoughtful design of the human system as a whole. Through Wellness Architects, he supports individuals and organizations in aligning body, emotions, thoughts, and daily practices so that change becomes sustainable rather than effortful. Conversation Tables hosted at NUNU are expected to reflect kindness, respect, and a commitment to community care. Discrimination is not permitted, including but not limited to discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, ability, age, or background. Participation is voluntary and self-directed, and NUNU reserves the right to withdraw use of space if these shared community values are not upheld.

Each session brings together LGBTQ+ people, allies, organizers, professionals, and community members who want a safer, more visible, and better supported Acadiana. It offers space to share what people are experiencing, learn across perspectives, and turn conversation into coordinated progress. Each edition focuses on a specific community issue and is designed to be accessible, intentional, and action oriented. Expect a welcoming, structured but casual environment with facilitated dialogue through panels, roundtables, or a mix, opportunities to meet others doing this work across Acadiana, and time to reflect on what is working, what is missing, and what should happen next together. Food is available and there is time set aside to build relationships. Attendance is free, with donations encouraged to help sustain the programming.
