Take on a cross-country 5K at Moncus Park on the same route used for the USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships. Whether you are chasing a personal record, running with friends, or enjoying an easy walk, all paces are welcome and the course finishes at the championship line. Registration is $40 and includes race entry plus an official event shirt. The terrain is grass and trails, so plan footwear accordingly and consider dressing in layers for an outdoor morning. A Warm-Up Zone supported by Southern Air and Shockwave Generators provides a spot to get loose and cheer for participants before and after the run. Parking information will be shared with registered entrants. Participation helps support Moncus Park’s nonprofit conservancy and its care of the trails, trees, and open spaces.

Christmas in the Park returns to Moncus Park for three festive nights, transforming the grounds into a cheerful holiday scene presented by First Horizon Bank. Admission is free. Stroll beneath sparkling lights, enjoy live music, shop the Merry Market with local artisans, and zip down the hill at Sneauxville where ice sledding is free. Kids can make crafts in Santa’s Workshop with the Children’s Museum of Acadiana, write letters to Santa, take photos with him, and get creative in a Building Block Zone. Seasonal treats include s’mores, hot cocoa, and mocktails, and a Food Truck Alley offers more than a dozen options. Families can ride the Christmas Train, enjoy free fun jumps, follow the Bubble Bus, and take a break in a dedicated Sensory Zone. Entertainment across the weekend features The Skyliners Big Band, Corey Ledet & Black Magic with special guests Gracie Babineaux, Louie Michot, Mike Dopsie, and Nathan Williams, plus a Christmas movie on the big screen, with the Lafayette Shrimpettes and New Natives Brass Band roaming the park. On-site parking is available for a fee that supports park operations, maintenance, and gardens. Free parking with shuttle service is offered from Blackham Coliseum, and shuttles are ADA friendly.
