Celebrate Pride with a seafaring twist while exploring the hidden social worlds of the Golden Age of Piracy. The program delves into powerful women who rose to rule, the close-knit partnerships among sailors often referred to as shipboard marriages, and the rebellious communities that thrived beyond the reach of the law. Guests are welcomed with a Pimm’s Cup, then treated to an energetic storytelling experience by Quinn Bishop of Queer Underground Tours at the historic Napoleon House, with food, cocktails, and an in-depth look at New Orleans pirate history. A curated Bar Bites Menu will be available for purchase, and a raffle table will feature Napoleon House gift cards and merchandise. Raffle tickets are $5, with all proceeds benefiting CrescentCare. Dancemeditation with Kryss offers a two-hour exploration of mindful movement that supports presence, personal insight, and gentle restoration. The focus is on letting the body lead while the mind rests, helping ease the effects of overuse, overthinking, and life’s accumulated tension. The atmosphere is calm and pressure-free... you might even slip into a brief, refreshing nap and leave feeling lighter and more open. Kryss guides participants through breathing-centered foundational practices that unfold into free movement and clear prompts, making the experience welcoming for beginners and enriching for experienced movers. No prior experience is required and every body is welcome. Please bring a yoga mat and blanket if you have them, water, a warm layer and socks in case you get chilly, and a journal with a pen for reflections. Create a whimsical, layered ceramic garden stack in a relaxed, hands-on workshop offered monthly. Each installment highlights a different element or technique, and participants are welcome to attend any month without committing to them all. This month focuses on pinch pots and globes. Because the pieces need time to firm up, this workshop takes place in two parts on consecutive days, with the first session followed by an overnight set so the work is ready for finishing in the second session.

Young athletes can build a strong volleyball foundation in an energetic, fun setting at this youth development camp. Coaches focus on essential skills such as serving, passing, setting, and attacking, with instruction centered on sound technique. The program welcomes boys and girls ages 8 to 13 who are beginners or at an intermediate level, whether they are brand new to the sport or preparing for middle school tryouts. Sessions take place at the Tulane Reily Center Gym. Participation is capped at 28 to keep the coach-to-player ratio low.

Celebrate color and creativity in a beginner-friendly clay workshop focused on sculpting a rainbow or pride themed gnome from scratch with step by step guidance. This adult workshop welcomes those with no prior experience. The first session lasts about two hours as participants build their gnome, then a return visit about two weeks later is dedicated to glazing in the colors of choice. The photo shown is only an example, and every detail, from hair and nose to accessories, can be customized. The $65 all inclusive price covers both the building session and the follow up glazing session for a complete handmade pottery experience.

This continuing volunteer effort helps care for a sacred space with steady, thoughtful attention. Volunteers pitch in with everyday needs like cleaning and dusting surfaces, wiping down areas, sweeping and mopping floors, tending house plants, arranging flowers or offerings, tidying the altar and other sacred areas, organizing the Freedom Library, restocking essentials, taking out trash and recycling, caring for outdoor spaces and entryways, welcoming and guiding visitors, setting up and breaking down for ceremonies, running simple errands and picking up supplies, and providing light administrative help. Consistent care keeps the temple dignified, peaceful, and welcoming so the community can gather, heal, and grow. Every contribution supports a shared place of pride, keeps the Freedom Library accessible, ensures visitors feel at home, and allows temple leadership to focus on programs, guidance, and community care. No particular skills are needed, only a generous spirit and willingness to help. Wear modest, covered clothing out of respect for the space. All tools and cleaning supplies are provided, so volunteers only need to bring themselves and a readiness to serve.

Arrowhead Jazz Band and more

The Arrowhead Jazz Band brings National Park Service Rangers together with local musicians for a live set that honors New Orleans musical traditions. The program features traditional New Orleans jazz, blues, gospel, and original pieces. Performing are New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park Rangers Jade Perdue on vocals and keyboards, Matt Hampsey on guitar, and Hunter Miles Davis on drums, along with interns Saskia Walker on vocals and Tim Brown II on percussion and vibraphone. Special guests Michael Watson on trombone and vocals and David Pulphus on bass complete the ensemble. The program takes place at the French Quarter Visitor Center. Admission is free and open to all, and seating is limited and available first come, first served.

A free, public program at the French Quarter Visitor Center brings together the Adonis Rose Quartet for a conversation and live set, presented by Cold Plunge Records and moderated by Saran Bynum. Led by New Orleans drummer Adonis Rose, a Grammy Award winning artist, composer, educator, and producer who has worked with Terence Blanchard, Betty Carter, Dianne Reeves, Marcus Roberts, Harry Connick, Jr., and Wynton Marsalis, the session opens with an interview and continues with a performance. NOCCA Stage Company returns with Echoes of the Heart, an original song cycle for six voices presented in an intimate cabaret setting. Under the direction of Blake Coheley, the program blends Broadway-inspired music with lyrical storytelling to trace arcs of personal struggle, love, heartbreak, resilience, and hope. The cast includes Kesha McKey, Hardy Weaver, Samantha Helmstetter, Mark-Anthony Thomas, Siddalie Ogeron, and Michael Breath, bringing together NOCCA alumni and community members.

Romance fans, spice lovers, and devotees of happily ever afters are invited to a special Thruster Thursday edition of the Adult Book Report at Nomad Used Books, dedicated entirely to romance novels and spicy reads. Bring a romance title you have already finished, then share a five minute, spoiler free pitch that persuades others to pick it up. Think of it as a grown up book report with extra swoons, drama, and the questionable choices of fictional characters. After everyone presents, the event wraps up with a Secret Santa style book swap. Numbers are drawn to set the picking order, and participants may choose a new book or steal one that has already been claimed, so everyone leaves with a fresh romance read. Light snacks and beverages are provided, participation in the swap is included, and there are plenty of chances to connect with fellow romance readers and book lovers. All attendees receive 25 percent off their entire purchase at Nomad Used Books during the event. Tickets are 25 dollars per person, and reservations can be made by sending payment via Venmo to @NomadNola with a note that includes TT and your first and last name. Chromatica: A Pride Belly Dance Show

Chromatica, a Pride belly dance showcase at Cafe Istanbul in New Orleans, brings together more than 50 dancers from across the Gulf South and beyond for a celebration of movement, artistry, identity, and Pride. Presented by Karla Marie Shimmy Soul and Studio Shakti NOLA, the program follows the full spectrum of Pride’s colors, with each shade reflecting a different feeling and chapter of the human experience. Through belly dance, fusion, theatrical movement, and contemporary expression, performers delve into themes of love, joy, courage, transformation, grief, resilience, belonging, self discovery, and liberation, offering a collective reminder that differences do not divide, they enrich and illuminate community. Presented by Madame Tanguera and NOLA Tango, this summertime milonga brings the community together in New Orleans for an evening of social dancing, connection, and atmosphere. Music will be curated by special guest DJ Sandra Sam from Houston, the 2026 SoCal U.S. Amateur Tango Pista Champion, whose selections keep the floor energized from tanda to tanda. A featured exhibition by Sandra Sam and Francisco will highlight the elegance and intensity of Argentine tango. Guests are welcome to contribute to a shared community table by bringing food or beverages to enjoy with fellow dancers. Cangelosi, Jr., president of Koch and Wilson Architects, the program emphasizes working with primary sources to assemble a factual account of a home. Topics include tracing a chain of title that can extend to the 1700s, distinguishing between land records and building improvements, and using census records, tax documents, building permits, city directories, and newspapers to determine when a house was built and how ownership changed over time. Admission is $25 for FOC members and $35 for general admission.

Garden District Tours

Explore the Garden District of New Orleans on a two-hour walking tour presented by Friends of the Cabildo. Licensed volunteer guides share how the neighborhood took shape, from the affluent Americans who built it to the cultural currents that influenced its growth. Along the route, hear about Greek Revival and Italianate architecture, the roles of notable figures and political events, and the ways local geography contributed to the district’s development. It offers more than a look at grand homes, providing context for mid-nineteenth-century American life beyond the French Quarter. Tours depart from outside the Chicory House. Tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for students and FOC members. The tour runs rain or shine and refunds are not available. Sidewalks can be uneven, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended, and bring water. The meeting point is near the St. Charles Streetcar line.

Lafcadio Fest 2026

The Japan Society of New Orleans presents Lafcadio Fest 2026, a celebration of New Orleans author Lafcadio Hearn. The festival includes a panel of scholars discussing Hearns writings, a keynote from his biographer Steve Kemme, and talks by John Kelly and Caroline Thomas. There will also be community reflections on the connections between New Orleans and its sister city Matsue, Japan, food by Gretas Sushi, virtual visits from the Mayor of Matsue and Hearns great-grandson, and musical performances. Joe Jackson and Band

Joe Jackson appears with his band at Joy Theater as part of his Hope and Fury tour. He was born in Burton-on-Trent and raised in the south coast port of Portsmouth, where he played his first paid pub gig at 16 next to a glue factory, took on more bar dates entertaining boisterous sailors, and even accompanied a bouzouki player in a Greek restaurant. At 18 he earned a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music in London to study composition, piano, and percussion. By 1978 he was in London with a group featuring Graham Maby, Dave Houghton, and Gary Sanford, shopping a demo that became Look Sharp. American producer David Kershenbaum signed him to A&M Records, the album was re-recorded that August, the band began steady performances, and Look Sharp arrived in January 1979. It was followed within a year by I’m The Man, then by Beat Crazy in 1980 with a darker, reggae-tinged approach. After Houghton left at the end of 1980, the band was dissolved and Jackson moved in new directions, a period he recounts in his book A Cure for Gravity. The venue does not accept cash.

Dessert selections span a caramelized banana crème brûlée with a crisp tuile, an almond ricotta cake complemented by blueberry lavender consommé and a citrus ají amarillo gel, a German chocolate bread pudding finished with white chocolate foam, pecan caramel, and toasted coconut, and a strawberry doberge layered with vanilla sponge, strawberry filling, and strawberry buttercream.

She supports local non-profits, has been featured on the national radio show Music Inside Out, and is a recipient of the Positive Vibrations Foundation Heartbeat Musicians Award. NOLA Line Dance Fest

Celebrating 15 years of dancing, this multi day line dance gathering highlights SOSU with Lady D at the host hotel in the French Quarter. All activities take place at the Astor Crowne Plaza, where three ballrooms offer views of Bourbon Street and the surrounding neighborhood. The program features social dancing across multiple rooms, music from RHONDi “Da PROFESSOR,” John Woodhouse, Jr., Reggie Reg of SouthSide Steppers ATL, and Bam Bam, and a run of themed celebrations that include a Thursday pre party, a Friday beginners jam and meet and greet, a Saturday Mardi Gras dinner with showcases and party, and a Sunday farewell event. Daily workshops with Lady D include line dance and partner dance sessions, plus creative options like T shirt cutting and Mardi Gras themed classes. Additional offerings include a health and wellness and women’s expo, local tours, and on site vendors. A midweek class with Lady D and friends is available for a separate fee, with snacks and water provided. After festival activities, it is easy to step outside onto Bourbon Street to experience New Orleans culture, history, and cuisine just beyond the hotel doors.

French Quarter Museum Heritage Night

French Quarter Museum Heritage Night invites visitors to experience a no-cost evening of museums, memory, and American stories in honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary. Across the French Quarter, member institutions of the French Quarter Museum Association offer free entry and special programs that reflect on 250 years of change and innovation while spotlighting the many ways New Orleans and its people have influenced the country’s progress. At the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, housed in the former home of Louis Dufilho, Jr., recognized as America’s first licensed pharmacist, exhibits trace the development of pharmacy and medicine since Louisiana adopted medical licensure in 1816. The museum highlights how early licensing emerged from both a need for regulation and the exchange of knowledge among cultures, including enslaved, Indigenous, and free communities whose contributions were often overlooked. A new exhibition takes a closer look at what it means to be considered licensed and who has historically been left out of that definition. The evening at the Pharmacy Museum features refreshments in the historic courtyard paired with time to explore the new exhibit. Later, docents Owen Ever and Annika Bell lead short, repeating tours that illuminate the building’s history, Dufilho’s legacy, the rise of medical licensure in 19th century New Orleans, and the barriers created for exploited communities by prevailing standards of adequacy for licensure. Tours recur frequently and last about 15 minutes.
