Charles River Jazz Festival returns to the Hatch Memorial Shell in Boston with a full day filled with performances, food, and community connection. The Cuban Salsa class centers on Casino, sometimes called the Cuban style of salsa, danced to the drive of Timba. Emphasis is placed on timing, coordination, connection, and improvisation while moving to contemporary Cuban rhythms. The Movement and Styling session builds flow, musicality, footwork, coordination, and personal expression, drawing from Casino, Rumba, Afro Cuban dance, and today’s Cuban social dance traditions. Dancers cultivate confidence and a stronger connection to the music while learning about the roots of these movement styles. The Rumba class explores a cornerstone of Afro Cuban culture, blending energetic movement, layered rhythms, improvisation, and playful call and response between dancers and drummers. Foundational technique, musical form, and the background of Guaguancó, Yambú, and Columbia are introduced, with practice that strengthens coordination, rhythm, and improvisational skills. Live percussion may be included when available.

This stand up paddleboard yoga class blends mindful movement with time on the water for a practice that feels both energizing and calming. The board serves as a floating mat, and the gentle motion beneath you invites extra balance and body awareness while the quiet of the water supports a meditative state. Participants often notice sharper focus, stronger core engagement, better balance, and a deeper connection with the natural setting. The session welcomes all levels and runs for 75 minutes, beginning with a short lesson on land and on the water and concluding with savasana. No paddleboarding experience is required, though some familiarity with yoga is recommended. All equipment is provided, or you can bring your own gear by reserving a spot designated for that option. Included are a stand up paddleboard, paddle, anchor, and life vest, along with a 10 minute introduction followed by a 65 minute yoga practice. Wear a bathing suit or yoga shorts or pants with a tank or tee, and add a long sleeve layer if the weather calls for it. Bring a towel, water bottle, sunscreen, and sunglasses, and choose fabrics other than cotton.

This session features Moana and is part of a weekly series that welcomes a new princess each Thursday. The program encourages reading and imagination while offering a shared community experience in Revere, M.A.

The Red Broderick Road Race is being hosted this year, offering a chance to lace up and take part in a road-running event.

Experience a lively, hands-on dumpling workshop in Cambridge at Patty Chen's Dumpling School. Designed as a party-style class, this session focuses on having fun while learning new skills. Participants will practice rolling and folding, properly filling dumplings with a variety of fillings, shaping them in different styles, and cooking them to enjoy. The class is open to ages 8 and up, runs for 2.5 hours, and is limited to 16 participants for an intimate experience. The meeting point is The Historic Windsor Inn in Cambridge. All necessary dumpling ingredients are provided. People of all skill levels are welcome, making it a relaxed activity for friends and families. For groups of children, one adult must remain for every five children for the full duration of the class, and that adult will need a ticket.
