Harvard Book Store and the Cambridge Public Library host Richard Russo, the Pulitzer Prize winning author of Empire Falls, for a conversation about his new novel, Under the Falls, at the Cambridge Public Library. Boston based band dayes, led by songwriter and vocalist Patrick Morelli with Camille Morelli on bass and Pete Duffy on lead guitar, channels the freewheeling spirit of modern jam bands like Dispatch and Mt. Joy alongside close to the heart storytelling in the vein of Caamp and The Lumineers. Beyond the stage, Patrick and Camille teach at a small private high school in Boston. Brendan Cleary’s journey includes a major reset in 2019 after years of battling addiction while working as a live musician in Nashville, beginning the long path back to his voice. The lineup also includes New York City based singer songwriter and actor Russell Jamie Johnson, who crafts cinematic indie folk that blends candid folk narratives with sweeping Americana textures and alternative touches. His songs sit in the wake of love, memory, and longing, with vocals that shift from quiet openness to raw power over fingerpicked guitars, atmospheric layers, and lyrics that unfold like scenes on a screen. Conceived as a study in sensory deprivation, it was recorded in a black-painted, windowless basement with only minimal light and even some metal pipes attached to a trash can for texture, with phones and social contact set aside to focus on perception.
