    Brennan Wedl

The Red Room at Cafe 939, 939 Boylston St, Boston · verified Oct 9
    See details

Brennan Wedl, raised in Minnesota and based in Nashville, writes from the perspective of someone long in search of herself and now settling into authentic ease. Through spiritual curiosity, empowerment, and renewed playfulness, she shaped an album that bears her name, loosening the grip of outside expectations and savoring the relief of being exactly who she is. It unfolds as a collaborative journey with earlier and future versions of herself, and with the friends who steady the way, tracing both the chaos and the victories that come from leaving a conventional route. Its familiar glow comes from themes many recognize, including the awkward, uncertain stretches of growing up, and the discovery that the anchor you seek can be found within. Sub*T, the New York indie rock duo of Grace Bennett and Jade Alcantara, began as a 2010s online friendship that evolved into a band after they learned guitar in 2019. Drawing on classic alt rock, grunge, and indie influences, they developed a voice of their own. Their debut full-length, How My Own Voice Sounds, follows the EPs Spring Skin, created with Aron Kobayashi Ritch of Momma, and So Green, made with Alicia Bognanno of Bully. Through rich vocal textures, vivid songwriting, and candid lyrics, the album explores identity, growth, grief, humor, and self-discovery.
