Potential Idea for the MTTS 2026 New York Section

Frederick · Frederick MD Visitor Center, 185 Commerce St

A multi-leg rally plan for MINI Takes The States 2026 charts a drive from Frederick, Maryland to Buffalo, New York with a featured stop at Kinzua Bridge State Park. The launch takes place at the Frederick Visitor Center, where drivers receive a final briefing, rally cards and QR links to the route, and assignments for lead and sweep cars. The Western Maryland segment runs on US 40 West, the historic National Pike, then MD 58 West before entering Pennsylvania. This stretch offers rolling elevation changes, a connection to the old National Road, and photogenic convoy moments. The Pennsylvania backroad section follows PA 75 North and PA 153 North, bringing tight curves, forest-lined roadway, and generally lighter traffic suited to spirited MINI driving. The first official stop is Kinzua Bridge State Park, noted for sweeping fall views and a skywalk that creates a floating-above-the-forest sensation. The plan calls for roughly 45 to 60 minutes here for a group photo on the skywalk, potential drone footage if permitted, and time to capture social content. The final leg continues north into New York toward Buffalo, identified as the first official MINI USA rally hub on this route. The plan also anticipates additional MINI owners and clubs meeting along the way.

    Re-Leaf Agency

Frederick · New Spire Arts, 1 N Market St

Re-Leaf Agency reshapes the stage into a multisensory world where movement, layered sound, spoken word, and expansive video envelop the room. Images of trees, mushrooms, ferns, wildflowers, and running streams span multiple surfaces, drawing focus to small and fragile life and to a sense of refuge. Blurring the line between performance and recruitment session, three Re-Leaf Agents, two dancers and a recruitment officer, frame the experience as an appeal to consider becoming keepers of the good. In the face of democratic strain and a shifting climate, the work turns to the long rhythms of nature to nurture hope. The piece grows from years spent documenting a sliver of land at the edge of Maryland’s South Mountain, where MAD Dance director Kit Clark found calm in non-human time while walking and observing the terrain. Clark performs with dancers Amanda Comi and Jeanna Riscigno, sharing that experience through movement and media. Presented as part of New Spire Arts programming at New Spire Stages in Downtown Frederick, MD, the intimate setting supports a close, memorable encounter with the work.

The Urbana Holiday Lights Parade returns for its third year, benefiting Sleep in Heavenly Peace through a blanket drive. This year’s route has been adjusted to reach more of the community, giving residents a wider viewing area. The procession will move at a relaxed pace so Santa’s float stays in the lineup. Because the route is long, there will be options for participants to exit if needed, and announcements with final details will be shared on the day of the parade. Staging takes place at the Urbana public library, with restrooms and restaurants nearby, and the parade concludes at Sugarloaf Elementary. Free registration is required for all Jeeps, and the sign-up link will be shared later in the year. Post-parade dinner plans are still being determined. Sleep in Heavenly Peace will be on site to accept donations of blankets, continuing a tradition that brought smiles to many kids last year. Santa will ride on his own float, adding extra cheer to the celebration.
