Mountain Mayhem Shootout brings a full day of side by side racing to Eagle's Nest Campground. The lineup includes nine classes with a 100 percent payout, 200 foot drag runs, and a First Round Callout to set the tone. Spectator admission is 10 dollars, and children 12 and under can attend at no cost. Seating is not provided, so bringing chairs is recommended. Cyclists take on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad’s 1309 steam engine in a head-to-head challenge on the climb to Mt. Savage, with pedal power racing alongside the rails. The 3M Challenge spans 15.3 miles on the Great Allegheny Passage from Cumberland to Frostburg, following the trail beside the railroad. Teams of up to six or solo riders compete to finish the ascent faster than the train, with cyclists leaving the Western Maryland Railway Station in spaced-out waves while the train’s run is officially timed. Those who beat the train’s time earn a commemorative engraved railroad spike, and every participant receives a keepsake race T-shirt. Awards are presented once the train reaches Frostburg, and refreshments are available for riders and their guests. Hosted by Mountain Maryland Trails, this event raises funds to support maintenance and development projects on the Maryland portion of the Great Allegheny Passage, as well as new trail initiatives. Mountain Maryland Trails is a volunteer-driven nonprofit that partners with Allegany County Government to care for and promote the region’s trail network. The Great Allegheny Passage begins at mile zero in Cumberland and stretches through the Allegheny Mountains to Pittsburgh, offering 150 miles of scenic, off-road pathway enjoyed by residents and visitors.

Summer's End at Ghlasbrae 2026 offers an afternoon centered on community, local agriculture, family activities, and giving back at Ghlasbrae Farm & Market in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. In partnership with the Women's Leadership Committee of the Somerset County Farm Bureau through the Farmers Care Initiative, the festival hosts a food drive benefiting the Somerset County Mobile Food Bank and local Backpack Programs that support children and families. Admission is $10 per vehicle, with up to $5 off for donating shelf-stable, non-perishable food items, and a $5 discount available when five items are contributed. The day features live music and entertainment, artisan and farm vendors, farm experiences and demonstrations, family-friendly activities, a range of food and treats, and educational exhibits from community organizations. Attendees may bring their own chairs or blankets, and hay bales will be available for seating. The celebration embraces the harvest season and the spirit of the Laurel Highlands while helping address food insecurity in the community.

Country Karaoke Night spotlights classic and contemporary country hits. Attendees can take the mic and choose from a large library of songs, whether the mood fits Johnny Cash, Shania Twain, Luke Combs, or anything in between. The evening is hosted by DJ Blue Wave at Mezzos. Now in its seventh year, this Baskets & Brews fundraiser is moving to the Ali Ghan Shrine Club Picnic Grounds to offer more room and seating. The organizers share their appreciation for 1812 Brewery, which supported and hosted the event for the past six years. Guests can look forward to basket raffles, beer for purchase, food trucks, a 50/50 drawing, music, tip jars, and vendor booths. All paper gambling is cash only. Cards are accepted for basket raffles, beer, and Friends Aware merchandise, with a standard 3 percent transaction fee. Outside food or beverages are not allowed. It is a friendly setting for children to make new friends while parents and caregivers connect. Activities take place in the children’s play area.
