The Ludington Area Center for the Arts invites stop motion creators of every style to share original work in a community celebration of frame by frame filmmaking. The festival spotlights local creators and welcomes participation across three age groups, including ages 5 to 9, 10 to 14, and 15 and up. Entries can showcase a wide range of techniques, from LEGO and other building block films to classic clay animation, stories told with found objects, and paper based approaches such as cutouts, silhouettes, puppets, or illustrated sequences. Videos should run between 15 seconds and 5 minutes, with up to two submissions per artist. All work must meet TV-G standards and will be reviewed ahead of time to ensure it is appropriate for all ages. A final entry deadline applies, and online submission is available. As a thank you, each participating artist receives four complimentary tickets to the screening. Audience members will help select a Viewer’s Choice Award in each age bracket. Tickets are available in advance for 5 dollars through LACA and online, and are 10 dollars at the door.

Jenga sets will be available for open play, giving families a chance to stack, balance, and test their steady hands together. Build tall towers, take careful turns, and share some laughs as the blocks teeter and tumble. It is a relaxed, family-focused activity centered on classic Jenga fun.

Support Sandcastles Children’s Museum as it works to restore its roof and safeguard a treasured community space. From June through the end of September, spare change is being collected at any Mason County West Shore Bank branch for the Sandcastles Roof Restoration Fund, and West Shore Bank will match donations dollar for dollar, up to $1,000. All proceeds will help repair the historic building and protect the museum’s carefully crafted exhibits that encourage creativity, learning, and exploration in young minds. The overall goal is $120,000, and every gift moves them closer to preserving this vital resource for families.
