Now in its fourth year, the goal is to raise $100,000, which would push the all-time total past a quarter million. Every $10,000 funds the placement of one service dog with a veteran or first responder, with dogs coming from shelters and rescues whenever possible. Participants can choose from three options. The Ruff Ruck Challenge covers 12 miles with a minimum 35-pound load verified at check in, with separate divisions for weighted vests and rucks to keep things fair, and those who finish in time receive a dog tag at the line. The Frontline Challenge is a team effort where four people split 100 pounds across the same distance with no time limit, led by a captain who is an active or retired first responder or military member.
