Fulton Street Market turns into a lively showcase of West Michigan creativity at this monthly celebration. More than 100 local artists present a wide mix of handmade work, from paintings, pottery, jewelry, and textiles to woodwork, soap, candles, skincare, stickers, prints, clothing, bags, and more. Hands-on, artist-led workshops welcome all ages and experience levels, with offerings that can vary from market to market. Food and drinks from vendors on site are available to enjoy while exploring the booths. Whether browsing for a unique gift or discovering new favorites, the focus is on art, community, and the makers behind it.

Leave with a handmade piece that reflects your personal style.

All flutists are welcome at a relaxed flute ensemble sight reading gathering at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids. This is the second session in WMFA’s two part summer series, Flutes On the River, celebrating West Michigan rivers and their park views. Participants can explore new repertoire, connect with fellow flute enthusiasts, and make music along the Grand River. Advance registration is preferred so parts can be assigned and music shared ahead of time, but walk ins are welcome. Attendees should bring a music stand, some music, a folding chair if they would like to sit, and their flute. Bringing a friend is encouraged.

Musicians from West Michigan gather at Meijer Gardens for Sunday Strings, a live classical chamber music series presented by Hill Island Financial and created by Haijin Choi. Let’s Go Fishing features Schubert’s Trout Quintet paired with a quintet by American composer Ellen Taaffe Zwilich. Performing are Jaewon Seo on violin, Arturo Ziraldo on viola, Igor Cetkovic on cello, Emily Grabinski on piano, and Ryan Bassett on double bass. The concert is held in the Huizenga Grand Room and is included with admission to Meijer Gardens.

Settle in for a Commander night organized into three play options. Pick a relaxed, social bracket, choose a higher powered bracket for stronger games with potent strategies and cards, or play in the Pre-Con Beatdown tier for anyone using Magic: The Gathering preconstructed decks. After the first round, the rest of the evening becomes free play. The entry fee is $7. Every participant receives one pack from the latest sets, and winners of their Commander pods receive three packs from the latest sets.

Enjoy a casual, drop in tabletop roleplaying night featuring standalone adventures and ongoing campaigns. Bring a character already built and roll dice with new faces, or take the storyteller role and run a session in the system you prefer. While Dungeons & Dragons tends to be the centerpiece, all games are welcome, and there is a selection of books with adventures for Pathfinder, Cyberpunk, and more available for purchase. All experience levels are welcome. Newcomers may want to check out introductory workshops that walk through character creation and the basics of playing or running a game. Before tables launch, there is time to mingle, compare character ideas, and find a game or assemble players for one you want to run. Seating is first come, first served based on table availability. Attendance is free, and a variety of drinks, food, books, and accessories are offered for adventurers. Many participants coordinate plans on Discord to discuss characters, ask gamemasters questions, and prepare for play.

Tommy Stinson headlines Tip Top Deluxe Bar & Grill with Karla Rose and her full band, plus Little Venom. A Minneapolis native with more than four decades in music, Stinson was a founding and lifelong member of The Replacements, played a key second-generation role with Guns N’ Roses, and spent seven years with Soul Asylum. He has also led his own groups and appeared on recordings by the Old 97s, MOTH, and BT. His current project, Cowboys in the Campfire with Chip Roberts, introduced the debut album WRONGER, a ten-song set that blends twang, grit, and sharp melodies. The opener Here We Go Again features ukulele and swelling horns with nothing but the musicians’ foot taps for percussion, while other tracks range from rough-and-tumble rockabilly to a shuffle evoking the Folsom Prison era. Hues of Nashville and Bakersfield color songs like Mr. Wrong and Fall Apart Together, and pieces such as Schemes, Souls, and Dream highlight his pop craftsmanship. Tickets are $25, with a limited VIP option at $100.

Round 8 of High Score Comedy brings a free standup showcase to the front room at The Pyramid Scheme. Hosted by New World Comedy, A La Carte Comedy, and Local Grins, this monthly series blends seasoned pros with new voices from West Michigan and spotlights the Grand Rapids comedy community.
