Camp Under the Starz is an all-inclusive overnight summer camp for students ages 10 to 18 and adults 19+ with disabilities. Campers refine musical theatre and dance skills through theatre, voice, and dance classes, plus training in things like characterization, stage presence, stage makeup, stage etiquette, and auditioning. An art track is also available, with classes like painting, drawing, scenery work, plein air, and other hands-on art projects. Noah is a field guide author, an award winning photographer, and a widely requested speaker who has devoted his career to expanding public understanding of the fungal world. His recent three month study of primate mycophagy in Tanzania adds fresh perspective to the session. After the talk, the group heads outdoors for a guided mushroom hunt within an hour of Minneapolis. Guides from Chick of the Woods and Noah will assist with identification throughout the foray, with Noah offering extra support on advanced or challenging specimens. The day concludes with a group review of the collections and deeper discussion of key features and identification tips. Participants may also bring unknown mushrooms or photos for help with identification. Attendees may keep what they collect, though the emphasis is on learning about a wide diversity of fungi, including non edible species, rather than harvesting for the table. The fee is $89.
