Designed for naturalists, hikers, and anyone who values wildlife, this session takes place at Neilson Spearhead Nature Preserve in Bemidji. Participants spend time in the field observing and interpreting footprints and other clues left by wild neighbors, learning directly from whatever the landscape reveals that day. Instruction covers how to recognize tracks and sign, how mammal and bird foot structure can aid identification, insights into behavior and local ecology, and practical ways to use tracking field guides for continued learning. The course welcomes all experience levels, and everyone can expect to come away with new understanding. This program follows a pay-what-you-can model to keep access open. Contributions support ongoing outdoor learning and help expand opportunities for the community.

Enjoy a summer concert at Lake Bemidji State Park in Bemidji as Lou Samsa performs a blend of jazz, country, rock, and classical music. Presented by the Friends of Lake Bemidji State Park and the North Country Snowmobile Club as part of the annual Music Under the Pines series, the performance is set at the outdoor amphitheater among the pines. The meeting point is the amphitheater. If it rains, the concert moves to the Visitor Center.

This family-friendly outing begins at the Bemidji Early Childhood Collaborative office with a group walk to North Country Park, followed by activities for young children. At the park, kids can enjoy a read-aloud, bubbles, sand toys, and other simple play options. Participants are encouraged to bring a stroller, wagon, or baby carrier, along with sunscreen, water, and snacks for a comfortable experience. The program is designed for children ages 0 to 5 and their caregivers, though everyone is welcome to walk and play. It offers a chance to connect with other families and spend time outdoors, and there are plans to evaluate the walking route for a walk audit sponsored by AARP, with more details to come.

Registration is open for Mark Makers Art Camp. The Fantastical Art session for students entering grades 4 through 6 has reached capacity, offering an imaginative environment where participants work across many mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpture, clay, printmaking, building and more. Another option, Art of Illustration for students entering grades 7 through 12, highlights techniques and media that communicate ideas visually with a focus on book illustration. Projects may include drawing, pen and ink, watercolor, acrylics, artist markers and additional approaches. Tuition is $120 for Watermark members and $150 for non-members.
