Instruction covers how to recognize tracks and sign, how mammal and bird foot structure can aid identification, insights into behavior and local ecology, and practical ways to use tracking field guides for continued learning. The course welcomes all experience levels, and everyone can expect to come away with new understanding. This program follows a pay-what-you-can model to keep access open. Contributions support ongoing outdoor learning and help expand opportunities for the community.

A field training at North Country Park supports the Minnesota Bumble Bee Atlas, a community science effort dedicated to tracking and protecting native bumble bees. Participants gain practical skills in using a net, photographing bees, and identifying species, with opportunities to connect with others. The first hour involves walking the park to collect bumble bees, followed by a second hour at picnic tables focused on identification practice. This program takes place outdoors. Recommended preparations include closed-toe shoes, long pants, sunscreen, and tick prevention. Open to everyone, and registration is required.

Sunset Sounds returns to the Bemidji Brewing patio with The Oxbows, a four-piece group performing a mix of Celtic, Nordic, and modern tunes. The outdoor series celebrates favorite Bemidji bands alongside cold beer and a relaxed summer atmosphere. Presented over seven evenings at Bemidji Brewing in Bemidji, this installment blends traditional influences with contemporary sounds in an easygoing patio setting.

Enjoy a summer concert at Lake Bemidji State Park in Bemidji as Lou Samsa performs a blend of jazz, country, rock, and classical music. Presented by the Friends of Lake Bemidji State Park and the North Country Snowmobile Club as part of the annual Music Under the Pines series, the performance is set at the outdoor amphitheater among the pines. The meeting point is the amphitheater. If it rains, the concert moves to the Visitor Center.

This family-friendly outing begins at the Bemidji Early Childhood Collaborative office with a group walk to North Country Park, followed by activities for young children. Registration is open for Mark Makers Art Camp. The Fantastical Art session for students entering grades 4 through 6 has reached capacity, offering an imaginative environment where participants work across many mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpture, clay, printmaking, building and more. Another option, Art of Illustration for students entering grades 7 through 12, highlights techniques and media that communicate ideas visually with a focus on book illustration. Projects may include drawing, pen and ink, watercolor, acrylics, artist markers and additional approaches. Tuition is $120 for Watermark members and $150 for non-members. At Wildflower Cottage Shop and Studio, this hands-on workshop centers on creating a driftwood basket inspired by Lake Superior. Participants use rib construction to start with an airy framework, pairing a rattan hoop with a weathered piece of driftwood that becomes the focal element. As the weave builds, the shape reveals itself. Instruction covers forming the hoop, positioning and shaping the ribs, and weaving from each end toward the center. Attendees finish with a completed basket and a technique they can apply to future work. All tools and materials are provided, so beginners and experienced weavers are equally supported. Ages 14 and up. Hand dexterity is required. The sample basket measures about 12 inches across, 8 inches deep, and 8 inches high. Class size is limited to 8 participants. A lunch break is included, snacks are provided, and participants may bring their own meal.

Beltrami County Fair hosts a multi-day carnival with an evening kickoff, afternoon and evening hours on the following days, extended nighttime hours on two consecutive days, and an afternoon close on the final day. There are multiple opportunities throughout the week to experience a lively carnival atmosphere.

Now in its 24th year, this Wine & Beer Tasting Social brings sampling and entertainment to the Sanford Center. Guests can sip and savor offerings from Bemidji Brewing, Bernick's of Bemidji, Cantilever Distillery, Castle Danger Brewery, Liquor Lodge, Lost Woods Whiskey Co., Lueken's Village Foods, McKinnon Company, Mrs. Sippi, Phillips Distilling Company, Portage Brewing, Sanford Center, Tavern, and Zero Proof Bottle Shop, along with additional vendors. Live music by Rhonda and Orlando sets the tone, and the festivities also feature games, a raffle, and a silent auction.

A relaxed 2 to 4 mile run sets out from Bemidji Brewing, followed by time at the brewery for a beer or soft drink. All experience levels and paces are welcome, and friendly dogs can come along. Expect a casual atmosphere with roughly 3 to 15 participants. The group goes out in most weather, skipping only when conditions are especially cold or nasty. Distance and pace vary based on what people feel like doing. Sometimes runners split into smaller groups, and other times everyone stays together. If you are new to running or not ready to head out with the group, it is still fine to stop by the brewery for the social portion.
