On the north side of Maryland, efforts focus on the swale, the stump area to the west, and the slope to the east. A few tools may be available, though bringing a shovel, trowel, or hand snips is helpful, along with gloves, a hat, drinking water, sunscreen, and a snack if needed. Plans may shift with weather or other factors. Simple planting designs from the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources are referenced for different situations.
