The 54th annual Traditional Mahkato Wacipi gathers at Dakota Wokisuye Makoce, also known as Land of Memories Park, to honor the 38 Dakota. Grand entries take place throughout the weekend. Spiritual guidance is provided by Austin Owen, with emcee duties shared by Jerry Dearly, Galen Drapeau Jr., and Bill Taylor. Arena direction is led by Londel Seaboy, and the host drum is the Mazakute Singers. The moccasin game is coordinated by Wambdi Gill. Admission buttons are sold at the gate for $10 in cash and are valid for the entire weekend. Children 12 and under, as well as those 60 and older, are admitted at no cost.

A large swap meet spreads across the grounds, and many food vendors provide plenty of options.

Kato Car Club hosts a car show with Music on Madison at JP Fitness. Admission is 20 dollars at the gate and includes two tickets, one for you and one for a passenger. Enter through the JP Fitness entrance, which is the only access point. Capacity is limited to 150 vehicles on a first come, first served basis, and early arrival is allowed. Trophies will be awarded, with winners announced on site and required to be present. Vehicles may remain parked until the event ends.

Explore how a Humanist lifestance shapes a sense of meaning and purpose in the concluding meeting of this three-part series on naturalism, ethics without religion, and meaning and mattering. The session considers what it means to be the outcome of an undirected evolutionary process, what kinds of purpose we can create in our lives, whether our lives matter, and how intentional community can foster both meaning and mattering. Discussion will connect a naturalist outlook, ethical commitments, and community spirit to everyday experiences of purpose. The presenter, Audrey Kingstrom, grew up Lutheran in rural Minnesota, became involved in evangelical circles during college, and later studied at Union Theological Seminary in New York City, completing a Master of Divinity before privately adopting an atheist perspective. She shifted into education through publishing and high school teaching, spent 16 years on the East Coast, then returned to Minnesota. There she discovered congregational humanism at the First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis, where she and her husband have been members for over twenty years and raised their two sons. She became active with HumanistsMN, served on its board for eight years including five as president, is a humanist celebrant, and continues as program coordinator and frequent presenter. It highlights the impact of ongoing support and focuses on building a safe, hopeful path forward for individuals and families affected by addiction.

A casual gravel cruise with MAMB rolls out after the A and B groups from the Nicollet Bike parking lot. Expect a route that blends gravel and pavement with a bit of trail riding. This is a no drop ride of about 20 miles at a steady 12 to 14 mph. The route will be chosen at the start based on weather and rider abilities. Gravel bikes, mountain bikes, and other bikes are welcome.
