Workshops & Classes

STEM Club Grades 3-6 Year 1

Students dive into Lego Mindstorms robotics this semester, experimenting with sensors that help their creations interpret and respond to their surroundings. They also complete hands-on engineering challenges and take a couple of projects home. The class prepares for an annual Robot Parade by building robots and designing floats, with robots programmed to follow a line and avoid bumping into the one ahead using their sensors. Designed for 3rd, 4th, or 5th graders, this experience strengthens critical thinking, problem solving, and computational thinking in a supportive setting. It also offers a collaborative space where homeschoolers can share ideas and connect with peers. Tuition is $120 for one child or $100 for a sibling. Families with two children enrolled in different classes can speak with Miss Annette about a sibling discount before paying tuition. The class runs with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 students. Two extra sessions are built in for weather or illness makeups, and any additional cancellations will be made up at the end of the semester. Organizers note that students who completed last year’s STEM Club for Grades 3 to 5 should continue in STEM Club Grades 4 to 6 Year 2.

Power of the Purse

At Capital Bluffs Event Center, this evening brings women together to celebrate connection, generosity, and the impact they can make in their community. Presented by Women United, it supports the mission of United Way of Central Missouri and the work of local partner agencies dedicated to strengthening local lives. Guests can expect a curated experience featuring a silent auction of purses that span designer favorites and unique local finds, along with a live auction where purses are paired with exclusive experiences. Raffles and interactive moments run throughout the night. Each purse offered represents a chance to create meaningful change close to home, and the occasion underscores what is possible when women come together with purpose.
