Downtown Springfield hosts the Birthplace of Route 66 Festival and Parade, bringing together hundreds of classic cars, live music on three stages, and flavors from downtown restaurants along with area food trucks. Kindig-it Design will be on site with its Big Rig, featuring appearances by Dave Kindig and KevDogg. Meet and greet schedules will be announced. Experience First Friday Art Walk in The Gallery, a second-floor venue inside the historic Gillioz Theatre. The Springfield Art Museum hosts a table with a hands-on art activity. Admission is free.

The first annual SWMO Slaughter brings a heavy lineup featuring Kurb Check celebrating a CD release, joined by Spellblade, Deep Sea Fishing For A Killer Whale, and Life Eternal. This all ages show is priced at 8 dollars at the door.

Enjoy Americana from Zero Day, a local duo featuring upright bass and acoustic rhythms. A full bar is available, along with dinner and breakfast options. There is no cover charge, and all ages are welcome.

N2 Deep delivers a high energy mix of classic rock favorites spanning the 1960s through the 2000s, blending gritty guitar riffs with singalongs suited for a night on the town. The performance takes place at Carrie’s with no cover charge.

Hometown Tourist is back at Ebbets Field with a lively mix of original songs and covers that span genres and decades. When the weather cooperates, the music takes place on the Partio, with a move indoors if conditions change. Expect fresh twists and fun surprises each week. There is no cover charge.

A guitar-based wellness group supports veterans living with PTSD and moral injury through shared music-making and peer connection. Sessions are led by a certified music therapist who combines group support with practical guitar instruction. In-person meetings take place at the Center for Music Therapy and Wellness, and virtual participation can be arranged upon request through Zoom. Street parking and an accessible entry are available. The initiative is a collaboration among the Moral Injury Institute, the Center for Music Therapy, and the Springfield VA Vet Center, working together to place guitars and musical tools in the hands of veterans. She accompanies herself on guitar and keyboard, blending influences from country, pop, punk, alternative, and classic rock into songs that highlight her distinctive voice.

Mark Chapman, a songwriter from the Springfield area, brings an intimate acoustic set that puts his original music front and center. Years of writing and performing have shaped a sound rooted in sincerity and connection. As frontman of the Mark Chapman Band, he has toured regionally and played alongside nationally known artists, earning a reputation as a standout on the local scene.
