The first 200 participants who pre-register will receive a complimentary goody bag on the day of the event. Each participant is limited to one fishing pole and one hook, and must be able to cast and land their own fish. Some bait will be provided, and attendees should bring a fishing pole, hook, and stringer. Those without equipment can check with local libraries that participate in the Urban Fishing Program, where fishing poles are available to borrow. The derby partners with STL Youth Sports Outreach, and attendees are encouraged to bring new or gently used sports equipment such as cleats, gloves, bats, balls, and other athletic gear to support local youth.
