    Learn to play D&D 5.5 2024

Gulfport · Miles to Adventure, 901 Pass Rd

    Free

Kick off an adventure with the 2024 5.5 edition of D&D through two free learning opportunities. The first session walks participants through creating a starter character, breaking down each choice so it fits the kind of hero you want to play. The second session is an open one shot that lets you test that new character at the table or use one you already have. This format is built so characters can carry over between one shots and gain levels, making it easy to drop in for a night or return whenever possible without the commitment of a full campaign. Character guidelines keep things simple for beginners. Everyone begins at level 1. Use the standard ability score array of 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, and 8. Options are from the Player’s Handbook only with no variant or alternative classes, races, or backgrounds. Start with the equipment granted by your class and background, and do not use Unearthed Arcana. The event focuses on learning the game, playing together, and connecting with others who enjoy it, and interested game masters are welcome to participate and meet potential players.

    BRICK or TREAT

Gulfport · TrainTastic, 615 Pass Rd

TrainTastic in Gulfport presents a Halloween themed day where LEGO creativity meets trains and treats. Builders can dive into hands-on projects, themed challenges, trick-or-treating, costumes and other activities, with plenty of chances to create. Admission is $30 per builder. New this year, Tim Howell, a model builder, brick artist and contestant from Season 4 of LEGO Masters, will appear during the event and lead special build sessions. Each session lasts about 45 minutes, is recommended for ages 7 and up, and space is very limited with only 24 builder spots per session. Seating is reserved for registered participants who are actively building, and viewing space is minimal, so advance registration is advised because walk-up availability cannot be guaranteed. Select admission includes the opportunity to assemble a custom minifigure to take home. A bulk bin of bricks will be available for piece hunting, with bricks offered for purchase. Costumes are encouraged and a family friendly costume contest is planned. The main event welcomes all ages, while most LEGO activities and building challenges are designed for ages 7 through adult fans. LEGO elements contain small parts, and some challenges may be difficult for younger builders. Because supplies and capacity are limited for certain experiences, advance ticket purchase is recommended, and some activities or make and take projects may be offered only while supplies last or require separate registration.
