The 13th Annual Veterans Memorial Softball Classic, hosted by Nicholas B. Bloem VFW Post 12112 at the Belgrade High School Softball Complex, brings together many of the state’s top high school softball players to showcase their skills while honoring those who gave their lives in service. Five teams representing the Army, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Navy compete in a three-game guarantee tournament featuring 10 games with the possibility of a championship under the lights. The schedule also includes fan-favorite skills competitions, highlighted by a Home Run Derby along with Catchers Pop to Pop and Base Running contests. The event recognizes Montana’s high school standouts and Montana KIA, and it will award two $1,000 scholarships. One is given in honor of Nicholas Bloem and sponsored by Belgrade Liquor, and another is presented in memory of Delaney Doherty with support from 4G Property Management. A continuing $1,000 program grant in honor and memory of the late Otto Thill will be awarded to one of the five coaches. Team leadership includes Jami Hanson of Polson guiding the Army in honor of Medal of Honor recipient Captain William Wylie Galt of Geyser, Keith Haggerty of Troy leading the Marines in honor of 2nd Lieutenant Gordon Eugene Thompson of Moccasin, Michael Falcon of Skyview coaching the Air Force in honor of Colonel David Jay Allinson of Helena, Hannah Martinez of Hamilton leading the Coast Guard in honor of Senior Chief Petty Officer Terrell Edwin Horne, III of Redondo Beach, California, and Alex Hurley of CMR coaching the Navy in honor of Ensign George Ordell Foss of Richland. The Mint Café & Bar of Belgrade, Pizza Campania, and Backcountry Burger Bar of Bozeman return as sponsors for this tribute that spans 250 years of heroes.

Campers ages 10 to 14 will become pet designers, creating toys, bandanas, treat jars, tug ropes, and cozy accessories to spoil furry best friends. This is a day camp-style session running Monday through Thursday.

Join this beginner-friendly summer lesson series for ages 5 to 12 at Cedar Ridge Equine. Each day includes hands-on horsemanship in the saddle, time on the ground with horsemanship skills, and activities like crafting and journaling. Riders with little to no horse experience are welcome. Participants should bring lunch and snacks daily, and included with tuition are a t-shirt, journal, and take-home crafts. There is also an optional afternoon Stable Hand Program available for those signed up for that session, with daily barn chores from 12:30 to 4:00 PM. On the third day, there will be a “Showdeo” showcase starting at 12:00 PM.

An all-ages bingo get-together at the senior center offers friendly play, laughs, and the chance to win cash prizes. Newcomers and longtime players are equally welcome. Bingo packs are available for purchase, with a single pack priced at $5 and a double pack at $10. Larger turnouts increase the prize pots, and funds from pack sales go right back into the prizes. Participants must be at least 18 to buy bingo cards or claim cash prizes. Children are invited to attend, though they cannot purchase cards or play for money, and a small treat will be available so they can share in the fun. Plan to arrive a little early to choose a seat, purchase cards, and get settled before the games begin.
