The Still Point: A Reiki Share

Rooted in early 20th century Japan through the teachings of Mikao Usui, Reiki is a hands-on energy practice that supports the body’s own capacity to balance, regulate, and restore. The word refers to universal life force energy. Through gentle, intentional hand placements, the practice remains simple and self contained, guided by presence and attunement, with confidence in the body’s innate wisdom rather than complex methods or performance. This gathering offers a short guided meditation, organized Reiki exchanges working in pairs or small groups, and unhurried time to integrate. The focus is on grounded practice and calming the nervous system, showing how steady, attentive touch can invite meaningful change without force. It welcomes trained practitioners at Level I and above from any lineage, along with people who feel a sincere interest in learning Reiki in the future. Those who are not attuned are invited to attend in a receiving role and to observe how an exchange is held. Clear guidance is provided so everyone feels comfortable and supported. Bring a water bottle, wear comfortable clothing suitable for resting, and come exactly as you are.

Hand Analysis: Scientific Non-Predictive

Explore a scientific, non-predictive approach to what your hands can reveal about you. This session looks at the language of hand analysis, focusing on how lines, shapes, finger length, and fingertip types can reflect personality, talents, and learning style. It does not forecast how long you will live or whether you will meet a future partner. Expect an overview of the Heart, Head, and Life lines, the major hand shapes, the roles associated with each finger, and the different fingertip forms. Each participant receives a personal 10-minute reading, identifies a non-negotiable need, discovers which finger is dominant and what that means, and explores a personal "Delicious Dilemma." Guided by Cindy, who has been reading hands since 2019, the experience aims to spark "aha" moments that help move past blocks and support growth. Space is limited to eight people.

Blue Moon Tantric Latihan

Blue Moon Tantric Latihan offers a group exploration inspired by Subud, an Indonesian spiritual and intuitive meditation practice. The focus is on surrendering to inner guidance through unplanned movement, dance, and sound. Participants allow the body to lead rather than the mind, usually with eyes closed for roughly 30 minutes. A blindfold can be used to reduce distractions and deepen inner awareness. No prior training is required, and the experience is unique to each person. Many participants find space to release stagnant energy and emotional blocks, expand self-awareness and intimacy, reconnect mind, feelings, and body, awaken intuitive direction, and live more authentically. The process supports dissolving restrictive patterns and fostering embodied connection with self, others, and Source. Expect a gentle pace and a shared field of presence. By yielding to spontaneous impulses in a group setting, participants set aside expectations, wait for genuine inner movement or vibration to arise, and meet the moment with openness. Wear comfortable, loose clothing and bring a water bottle. Some yoga mats and blankets are available at the venue. You may wish to bring a journal for reflections afterward, and arriving a bit early can help you settle in and clarify intentions for the workshop.

Free and open to the public, this hands-on fiddle workshop, presented by MSOTFA, focuses on primarily old-time fiddle repertoire. Instruction proceeds a phrase at a time, beginning with the melody, adding bowing, then putting everything together, with plenty of playing and repetition to help the music settle in. Participants will also work on rhythm, syncopation, and intonation, using each tune as the pathway for learning. Players who are comfortable with the instrument and already know a few tunes will be well suited for the pace. Sidewalk Signing with Chet Rogenski

This program focuses on The Longest Staircase: An Alzheimer’s Journey by Chet Rogenski, a memoir that intertwines an intimate caregiving story with practical insight. A retired engineer and educator, as well as a husband, father, and grandfather, Rogenski served as his wife’s primary caregiver through a prolonged illness, learning from physicians, professional caregivers, hospice nurses, and friends. His engineering training informed a mindset of problem solving, preparation, and continuous improvement, supported by a deep faith that helped him endure. The narrative offers readiness for each stage of the disease while adapting to the unexpected, and it acknowledges trial and error, difficulty, and grief alongside moments of joy. Set against a broader backdrop in which an estimated 6.7 million Americans live with Alzheimer’s and about one in nine people over 65 are affected, with Alzheimer’s related deaths rising markedly since 2000, the book speaks to families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals and underscores the humanity behind a diagnosis.

A Well-Being Concert with Caroline Keys

Caroline Keys brings banjo and guitar, Grace Decker plays fiddle, and Jessica Catron performs on cello. Unlike a standard performance, this Well-Being Concert weaves live music with moments of mindfulness and optional art-making. Attendees receive materials to create visual responses during the music, and donated pieces will be gathered into a community collage for display at the library. Seating is flexible, with options to use chairs, relax on cushions, or lie on mats. The atmosphere is intended to help the nervous system settle and reset, allowing room for renewal and reflection. Presented in partnership with the Missoula Public Library and the Carnegie Weill Music Institute, the program reflects the Crescendo Club’s mission to expand equitable access to music education and creative expression. First Friday - Inspired by Nature: Block Prints By David Miles Lusk

At the Montana Natural History Center, printmaker David Miles Lusk of Anomal Press shares selections from his block print collection. He will give a brief introduction to his work and how the natural world shapes his imagery, with time to view the pieces and meet the artist. His path began in childhood while exploring Montana, later discovering relief printmaking in high school with guidance from teacher Marvin Pauls. Drawing and woodcarving came together in that medium, which he has pursued for many years. Each project involves research and careful observation, and every design is drawn, carved, and printed by hand. This collection reflects his admiration, curiosity, and gratitude for nature, with the intention of inspiring others. Light snacks and beverages will be available. Free admission for all.

Yve Holtzclaw- Neighborly

Neighborly features work by Yve Holtzclaw, an artist in residence at the Clay Studio of Missoula since 2024. Informed by early memories of metro Atlanta’s sprawl and experiences of flooding along the Chattahoochee River, the exhibition explores where the wild and the domestic meet. Interdisciplinary installations imagine climate, animals, and architecture with human qualities, offering portraits that highlight how built and living environments are inseparably intertwined. The pieces draw from a wide range of materials, including ceramic, fiber, metal, wood, and paint. Holtzclaw, a genderqueer artist and educator from Atlanta, earned a BFA in ceramics and art history from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2020, received the Donis A. Dondis Travel Grant, and completed a ceramics residency at the Kalamazoo Institute of Art. Their work has been shown and organized locally and nationally, including a solo presentation at the Dittmer Gallery at Northwestern, with talks at NCECA, the Indiana Clay Conference, and the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay.

Willow pack basket class.

Learn to craft a willow pack basket in a three-day, hands-on course that blends traditional technique with everyday usefulness. Create a sturdy basket that protects your belongings from being crushed and keeps gear from poking your back, all while making a functional piece of art you can use regularly. You will explore three time-tested weaving methods from ancient Europe that work for any basket size, learn how to find and harvest willow and compare wild and farm-raised sources, and practice basic leatherwork while making comfortable straps. All materials are provided. The plan begins with a morning discussion on sourcing and harvesting willow, guidelines for working with it, and starting the basket base, followed by an afternoon finishing the bases and building the lower half. The second day is devoted to weaving and completing the pack with a finished rim, with opportunities to help others if you finish early. On the final day you will add a foot to your basket, make the straps, and wrap up with a group photo of everyone’s completed work. The cost is $450. To reserve a spot, a deposit of $225 is required.
