Visitors can settle in early to find a good vantage point and watch the sky shift from dusk to darkness. A partial lunar eclipse will be visible with peak obscuration near 94 percent. During this celestial event, Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon, casting a shadow that can appear reddish orange, often called a Blood Moon. Park staff and members of the Bismarck Astronomy Club will help participants use telescopes, spot constellations, identify planets, and examine lunar craters. Telescopes and binoculars are available, and personal equipment is welcome. Red-light flashlights are recommended to preserve night vision, and regular flashlights should be kept on a low beam. All ages are welcome. Restrooms are available in the Commissary building adjacent to the parade ground. The 27th Annual North Dakota Amateur State Championship, organized by BizeeMan Disc Golf Club, will be held at General Sibley Park. This established amateur disc golf tournament continues a long tradition of state competition presented by the host club.

The range is open starting at 9:00 for setup and finalization, and the event wraps up around 3:00. The Mandan Cruise Night Car Show takes place at Dakota Kustomz and showcases cars for enthusiasts and fans. This event is part of a recurring series held on select dates throughout the year.

Presented by Bismarck Event Center and Jade Presents, this evening brings David Sedaris to the Belle Mehus Auditorium at the Bismarck Event Center for a live appearance filled with his trademark wit and keen observations. The event is open to all ages. A celebrated humorist and essayist, Sedaris is known for bestsellers including Barrel Fever, Holidays on Ice, Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, When You Are Engulfed in Flames, Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls, Calypso, and Happy-Go-Lucky. The audio edition of Happy-Go-Lucky, written and narrated by Sedaris, earned an Audie Award. The Best of Me gathers 42 of his previously published pieces, and Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk offers modern fables with illustrations by Ian Falconer. His next essay collection, The Land and Its People, is forthcoming from Back Bay Books. Sedaris contributes regularly to The New Yorker and his work appears in The Best American Essays. His diaries were published in two bestselling volumes, Theft By Finding and A Carnival of Snackery, and David Sedaris Diaries: A Visual Compendium showcases the art of his diary covers. He edited the anthology Children Playing Before a Statue of Hercules. For younger readers, Pretty Ugly, illustrated by Ian Falconer, and The Selfish Sister, illustrated by Bob Staake, both received starred reviews from Kirkus. His performances and recordings have earned multiple Grammy nominations for Best Spoken Word and Best Comedy Album, with releases such as David Sedaris: Live for Your Listening Pleasure and David Sedaris Live at Carnegie Hall. A feature film adaptation of his story C.O.G. premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. His BBC Radio 4 series Meet David Sedaris received the BBC Audio Drama Award for Best Stand Up or Sketch Comedy. He is a regular contributor to CBS Sunday Morning and created a MasterClass on storytelling and humor. Sedaris’s books have sold more than 16 million copies and have been translated into 32 languages. Honors include the Terry Southern Prize for Humor, the Thurber Prize for American Humor, the Jonathan Swift International Literature Prize for Satire and Humor, Time’s Humorist of the Year, and the Medal for Spoken Language from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Celebrate Halloween with a kid-focused crawl through Downtown Bismarck. For $5 per child, participants can trick-or-treat at participating downtown stores and take part in activities for all ages. Tickets are available at Boutique 23, and the first 50 purchases include a pumpkin trick-or-treat bucket filled with goodies. Every child needs a ticket, and adults are free.

Halloween takes over Tumbleweed Bar & Grill as Diplomatic Disaster Squad takes the stage with a high energy mix of rock and pop favorites spanning the 80s to the present, all with an eerie twist. A costume contest with prizes is planned, along with additional fun.

Enjoy two nights of live music as Diplomatic Disaster Squad performs at Last Call Bar, covering rock, punk, and pop from the 1980s through today. The band leads listeners through familiar favorites across the decades.
