CarNutz Cruise Nights brings together vehicle enthusiasts for a relaxed cruise-in hosted by the Newport Area Chamber of Commerce. Two genre-crossing artists share the Stage 33 Live listening room for an intimate concert. Songwriter, singer, and guitarist Alex Radus places storytelling at the heart of his music, pairing soulful vocals with an easy glide among Americana, folk, swing, and blues. Rooted in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh and Delaware River valley, he has become a noted voice for original music and has appeared at Musikfest, Zoellner Arts Center, Godfrey Daniels, SteelStacks, Hopewell Theater, and World Cafe Live. A scholarship to the Augusta Heritage Center helped shape his distinctive fingerstyle and deep regard for tradition. He has supported or shared bills with John Gorka, Richie Havens, Jeffrey Gaines, Tim Reynolds, Darrell Scott, and Chris Barron of Spin Doctors, and was active in the early 2000s Anti-Folk scene at the Sidewalk Café with Regina Spektor, Nellie McKay, and the Moldy Peaches. Recent recognition includes selection as a 2024 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist and a Most Wanted invitation to return to the main stage in 2025. Gorka has praised his guitar work, songwriting, singing, and comfort moving across multiple styles. Multi-instrumentalist and educator Stu Fuchs brings award-winning musicianship shaped by classical training, improvisation, and mindfulness. His performances range from bright and playful to calm and contemplative, with genre-bending ukulele instrumentals and heartfelt songs that have reached audiences across the United States and abroad. He founded the quartet Babik, arranging the gypsy jazz of Django Reinhardt for appearances with symphony orchestras. His work offering healing music to people with cancer received support from the National Endowment for the Arts, and he served eight years as a professional artist in residence at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo. He has toured three continents on guitar in both gypsy jazz and meditative styles with sacred chant artist Snatam Kaur, and he appears on her Grammy-nominated 2018 release Beloved. Ukulele author and historian Lil’ Rev notes that Stu pushes the instrument into fresh territory while staying rooted in tradition. Stage 33 Live is a cozy, industrial-tinged listening room in a former factory that champions original work by local, regional, and national performers. There is no bar or kitchen, and coffee, soft drinks, juice, water, and snacks are available by donation. The project is volunteer run as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, with help from many individuals and seasonal support from The Island Corporation, WOOL-FM, Guilford Sound, and the Rockingham Arts & Museum Project.
