Young Artists: Drawing Class for Kids

Young creatives ages 9 to 14 can dive into a three week drawing series that builds confidence and essential skills in a welcoming setting. Through guided practice, students will learn to notice shapes, lines, and patterns, then apply those observations to draw people, animals, landscapes, and imagined scenes. Lessons introduce key techniques such as shading, working with proportion, and planning strong compositions while using pencils, markers, and other drawing tools. Each meeting features a new project that strengthens fine motor control and encourages personal expression. All supplies are included. The class is led by instructor Kristen Davila and is well suited for beginners as well as kids who already love to sketch.

Intro to Comics, Graphic Novels & Digital Design Elements for Tweens & Teens

At Markeim Haddonfield, tweens and teens explore the foundations of comics, graphic novels, and digital design in a beginner friendly class. Designed for ages 10 and older, the series covers character creation, storyboarding, panel layouts, speech bubbles, and other visual storytelling skills using hand drawn or digital artwork. Participants may bring a personal device to work with free tools such as Canva, and a simple animation is created using the Wick Editor. Whether superheroes, everyday life, or fantasy are your inspiration, the focus is on turning ideas into clear, illustrated narratives one panel at a time. No experience required. Taught by Ms. Kim.

BUILDING BRAIN-HEALTHY HABITS

An education program presented in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association shares research-based ways to support memory and thinking throughout life. The session covers everyday habits that promote brain health, such as staying active and eating well, explains how heart health affects the brain, and underscores why caring for your brain matters at every age. Participants will also create a personalized action plan to build and sustain brain-healthy routines. This program is free and open to the public.

Toddler Artful Beginnings

A flexible, four week art series for children ages 2 to 6 features short, engaging activities led by Markeim teaching artist and art therapy certificate holder Erinn Davies. Sessions are held in a spacious gallery with plenty of natural light and focus on nurturing creativity while supporting sensory exploration and motor skill development. This is a caregiver and child experience, so parents, guardians, grandparents, or nannies stay on site and take part. Comfortable clothing is recommended because little artists may get messy.

Magic returns to Middle-earth with a prerelease that follows Bilbo Baggins on a journey filled with peril and wonder. The previous collaboration with The Lord of the Rings brought some of the game’s most powerful cards, and this set continues that epic storytelling in a Limited Sealed format. Entry is $60. Discounts are available for multiple sealed events, with three events for $165 and five for $250. Pre-registration is available by phone or in-store. Many lunch bags include a turkey or peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a small bag of chips. For safety, pack toiletries separately from any food. Toiletry bags often include travel size toothpaste, a toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, a comb or hair brush, feminine hygiene products, and mouthwash. Bringing 5 to 10 complete care bags is requested. All types of clothing, including gently used items, are accepted. Organizers also provide produce, prepared foods, and other items when available. In 2003, he collapsed during a training run and learned he had a rare nonmalignant brain tumor. This is designed for kids in grades 2nd through 5th, and accompanying adults are expected to stay and participate, since drop-offs are not allowed. Registration is required and will open on August 1, 2026 at 8:00 AM. During the initial registration period, library membership is required, with nonmembers able to join a waitlist for possible openings.

Pop Punk Camp

Get ready for a week of high-energy pop punk music. Campers will learn and rehearse popular songs from artists like Paramore, Green Day, Blink-182 and more, with the week wrapping up in a live performance on Friday. The camp runs Monday through Friday with rehearsals, practice time, and music-focused games and activities. Drop-off is at 9:00 AM and pickup is at 3:00 PM each day, with show time on Friday at 2:00 PM. Campers should bring a nut-free lunch, snacks, their own labeled water bottle, and hearing protection.
