A Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu red belt seminar comes to South Jersey with Grand Master Rigan Machado, a 9th degree red belt known for extraordinary accomplishments on the mat. His résumé includes two submission grappling world records, an undefeated 365 to 0 run spanning BJJ, judo, wrestling and sambo, and 19 submission victories in a single day at a BJJ world championship. He won every BJJ world championship from age 14 through 21 and submitted sambo champion Ron Tripp in 39 seconds in the Pan Am finals, the only competitor to have defeated Rickson Gracie in competition. Beyond competition, he has coached well known action film stars such as Chuck Norris, Keanu Reeves, Mel Gibson, Scarlett Johansson and Vin Diesel. After meeting in Brazil, Chuck Norris brought him to the United States and became his first student there, while Machado trained intensively under Rolls Gracie and Carlos Gracie Jr. The seminar is hosted by Snake Pit U.S.A. Mixed Martial Arts Academy/Machado Jiu-Jitsu, an officially recognized Rigan Machado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt academy in South Jersey. This is a BJJ gi seminar. After a pause since 2018, the holiday 8-ball tournament at Q-Ball Billiards returns as an open, handicapped event. Every 50 Fargo points equals a one-game spot, and races begin at R4. If players are within 50 points the race is 4-4, with gaps over 50 it is 5-4, over 100 it is 6-4, over 150 it is 6-3, and over 200 it is 7-3, which is the maximum race. Matches use alternating break and BCA rules, and the format is double elimination. The field is limited to 64 participants. The buy-in is $100, with $80 going to the payout. In addition, 20 percent will go toward charitable donations, capped at $1,000. Prizes and extras include championship belts, raffles for custom PPC JB cases, and event T-shirts.
