This weekend in Jackson, NJ

Field to Flight Foundation presents a free community workshop focused on conserving the American kestrel, New Jersey’s smallest falcon. The program opens with a brief talk about the species’ rapid decline, its role in local ecosystems, and how well designed nest boxes are helping rebuild breeding populations across the region. Light refreshments will be available. After the talk, participants take a guided walk to see active nest box sites and learn how habitat selection, placement, and ongoing monitoring support kestrel success. The day concludes with a hands-on session assembling nest boxes that will be installed locally as part of continuing conservation efforts. There is also an option to build and purchase a kestrel box to install at home, supporting backyard habitat and Field to Flight’s mission. Presented at Pinelands Alliance Headquarters and made possible through the Caren Kaufman Memorial Grant from Sustainable South Jersey. Whether you are a birder, a land steward, or simply curious about wildlife conservation, this workshop offers a direct way to contribute to kestrel recovery.

Play board games at The Guild Hall Hobby inside Moorestown Mall. The in-store library includes more than 600 titles that are free to play on Sundays, and attendees are welcome to bring their own games. A list of most library titles is available on the store website, though some new releases may be available to try before they appear on the list. The shop has moved within the mall and is now directly across from the food court where FYE used to be. If entering through the food court, walk straight into the main section of the mall and look ahead for the new location, just down from the previous spot. RSVPs are helpful, as the event may be canceled if no one other than the organizer signs up.

Pair up for a Two-Headed Giant Sealed prerelease for The Hobbit. Each team uses two prerelease kits to build two 40-card decks, then competes across three swiss rounds. Entry is $90. Door prizes will be available. Prizes are based on record... teams that finish 3-0 receive 8 The Hobbit packs, 2-0-1 earn 6 packs, and 2-1 earn 4 packs. Any team that completes all three rounds without earning one of those rewards receives 2 The Hobbit booster packs. Preregistration is available in-store or by phone, and entry is non-refundable.

Tony Castro and Nina Rubinstein kick off a new Social Dance series at Storm BDC on select Sundays. The event begins with a beginner group class, then continues with social dancing to music by DJ Tony. All are welcome. Admission is $20 per person.
