This four-part Tuesday series at First Presbyterian Church of Skaneateles explores how visionary American artists transformed music and the way we listen. Led by Artistic Director Aaron Wunsch, a member of the Juilliard School faculty, each session traces moments of innovation across classical and jazz traditions, featuring music by Aaron Copland, Samuel Barber, Amy Beach, Leonard Bernstein, William Grant Still, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Ornette Coleman, Edgar Varèse, John Cage, Terry Riley, Julius Eastman, and Pauline Oliveros, along with contemporary composers working today. Festival musicians share live performances to bring the conversation to life, and a small wine reception follows each talk. Admission is free and no ticket is required.

AfroCuban Dance Class
Experience Afro-Cuban traditional and folkloric dance with live drumming at TreeHouse Studio & Lounge. Connect with the rhythms of Afro-Cuban and Caribbean music while learning from Adolfo Castillo and Lisbet Lopez, accomplished professional dancers and culture bearers from Guantánamo, Cuba. The class welcomes all levels, ages, and backgrounds, and no prior experience is required. Bring a water bottle and, if needed, a towel. Expect storytelling through movement, new dance styles introduced each month with reviews during warm-ups, and a deep connection between rhythm and dance through live percussion. His discography includes Barefooted and Still Breathing with The Fevertones, the solo albums Half-Moon and Spellbound, and Defend Your Illusion, his first full length with The Big Dead Waltz. Athletes learn how targeted work can boost performance, support injury prevention, and promote long-term joint health while laying the groundwork for higher-level abilities, including the modern knee-down catching style. The curriculum is suited for young catchers with at least a year behind the plate who have had limited formal coaching, want to feel more confident, and want to understand the reasons behind their responsibilities. It also fits players focused on building a solid foundation for future growth through sport-specific speed, agility, power, and strength development. Coaching emphasizes fundamentals using traditional two-leg stances, and advanced topics such as knee-down setups and advanced receiving and framing are reserved for future clinics. Experience a local tradition with Ithaca’s longest-running road race as the course traces a quick, level loop through the Fall Creek neighborhood, beginning and ending at Ithaca High School. Opt for one loop to complete the 5K or run it twice for the 10K. A complimentary one mile fun run for children makes the day welcoming for families. The 10K also serves as the RRCA Eastern Regional Championship. Both distances start near the school’s main entrance and finish in the parking lot bus lane around the corner from the starting area. Trampled by Turtles took shape in Duluth in 2003 after frontman Dave Simonett, left with only an acoustic guitar when thieves made off with his gear at a gig, started a new project rooted in bluegrass and folk that moves with rock intensity. He gathered players who were new to the style, including fiddler Ryan Young, formerly a speed metal drummer, along with bassist Tim Saxhaug, mandolinist Erik Berry, and banjo player Dave Carroll. Every release from the band has reached number one on Billboard’s Bluegrass chart, and their itinerary includes Coachella, Austin City Limits, and Lollapalooza, plus tours with Shakey Graves, Zach Bryan, Wilco, Caamp, Mt. Joy, Willie Nelson, the Avett Brothers, and Lord Huron. Create FLX hosts a hands-on workshop where participants craft a 4-foot-tall Frankly Adorable Frankie leaner, a friendly Halloween accent that favors charm over fright. Attendees paint and assemble the piece with step-by-step instruction, and all materials are provided. No prior experience is needed, and everyone leaves with a unique, handmade Frankenstein decoration to enjoy year after year. Pricing is $75 per person, or $70 each when registering with a friend. Optional arms are available for an additional $20, hand stitched and ready to attach during the session, with that add-on paid in advance. Fred Armisen: Comedy for Musicians But Everyone is Welcome at the State Theatre of Ithaca
Presented by DSP Shows at the State Theatre of Ithaca, this show features Fred Armisen delivering a music-minded comedy set that welcomes every audience. A veteran of Saturday Night Live, he co-created and co-starred in the Emmy-nominated IFC series Portlandia and portrays Uncle Fester on Netflix’s Wednesday. On HBO’s Los Espookys he stars while also serving as co-creator and executive producer, and he is a star, writer, and producer of IFC’s Documentary Now. His screen credits include HBO’s Our Flag Means Death, Judd Apatow’s The Bubble, and the Amazon series Forever. Animation fans will recognize his voice from the Super Mario Bros. film, Big Mouth, and The Mitchells vs. The Machines. He is also starring in the Broadway play All In, and he led the 8G Band on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

The piece will be performed by harpist Victoria Kinney with Svetlana Kuksgauzen at the piano. Students of Barbara Irish, Myra Kovary and Meredith Kohn Bocek, will also perform. Pink Talking Fish brings a hybrid tribute to Lincoln on Main in Canandaigua, blending the music of Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, and Phish into seamless, story-like sets. The band stitches together the sweeping emotion of Pink Floyd, the danceable grooves of Talking Heads, and the adventurous spirit of Phish, revealing surprising connections along the way. Examples include "On The Run" tucked inside "You Enjoy Myself", "Sand" folded into the feel of "Slippery People", and extended runs such as "Run Like Hell" into "Making Flippy Floppy" into "Piper" back to "Run Like Hell", or "Mike's Song" into "Have A Cigar" into "Once In A Lifetime" into "Weekapaug Groove". Jeff Tweedy Solo at the State Theatre of Ithaca
DSP Shows and the State Theatre of Ithaca present an intimate solo performance by Jeff Tweedy with special guest Case Oats. Tweedy, the founding member and lead voice of Wilco, will draw from a wide-ranging catalog. In addition to 13 albums with Wilco, he has released five solo records, most recently the 30 track Twilight Override, called a magnum opus by the New York Times. The evening offers a rare opportunity to hear these songs up close and to explore the world of Twilight Override. Case Oats, a Chicago-based project led by Casey Gomez Walker and Spencer Tweedy, began seven years ago when the pair started writing together. Spencer Tweedy is a seasoned drummer who has performed with Jeff Tweedy, Waxahatchee, Mavis Staples, and Norah Jones, and the duo has shaped a lived in sound that complements Gomez Walker’s lyrics, which are wry, confessional, and full bodied.

During the Haunted Stroll, visitors can wander the gardens and come across spooky characters like witches, goblins, and ghouls. Hailing from Ottawa, Ontario, the band blends Irish traditional, folk, rock, and roots Americana, driven by brothers Duane and Dave Keogh on dual lead vocals, a powerful rhythm team of Jeff Tripoli and Blake Propst, and the expressive violin of Johanna So for a signature West Coast Celtic sound. Seating is general admission on a first come, first served basis.
