A comedy tour comes home to NYC with a one-night-only performance at New York Comedy Club on the Upper West Side. Seating is limited.

The New York Steppers present a 16th annual multi-day celebration of steppin across Harlem, featuring social sets, workshops, a Broadway outing, and a grand finale in the park. The weekend opens with a trip to the Broadway production of Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, starring Taraji Henson and Cedric the Entertainer and directed by Debbie Allen, followed by an evening meet and greet at the host hotel. Music throughout the festivities comes from DJ Shorty Smooth, DJ China, and DJ Mars, with an Uptown Friday Night set and a late-night afterset keeping the dance floor moving. Dancers of all levels can build skills in workshops led by Kevin Dockery and Dre Blackwell, and an optional Welcome to Harlem tour offers additional exploration of the neighborhood. The centerpiece is the main event at the Alhambra Ballroom, where steppers are asked to dress sharp in semi-formal style, enjoy a buffet, and cheer on WLSC prelims hosted by Pete Frazier with the Majestic Gents from Chicago. The weekend wraps with Steppin in Central Park at Summit Rock, which includes lunch and encourages city or club tees along with comfortable shoes. A weekend pass is available, with limited a la carte tickets and some activities included for passholders. Private lessons with the guest instructors are offered during the weekend based on availability. Harlem Aloft serves as the host hotel for this annual national gathering of the New York Steppers, active since 2007.

An evening devoted to the city’s moths and other winged insects unfolds at the Museum, beginning with a conversation in the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life. Museum scientists lead a panel that explores how declining insect populations can indicate the health of urban ecosystems, bringing together perspectives from entomology, urban ecology, and conservation to highlight why these animals matter to city life. The program then continues outside on the Museum steps, where, in honor of National Moth Week, attendees observe moths from Central Park and other areas as they gather in the evening alongside Museum scientists.

Spend an evening with the women of FCBC NYC at Harlem Summer Nights in West Harlem Piers Park, created to spark genuine introductions and conversation while building community. Expect a welcoming atmosphere, a playful scavenger hunt, and time set aside to simply be yourself. All women are welcome, and bringing a friend is encouraged.
