This weekend in Staten Island, NY

Now in its 12th year, this 5K brings the community together to champion hope, healing, and recovery. Participants can take part at Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park or opt to participate virtually from anywhere. The event is presented in partnership with Run 4 Recovery, Drug Crisis in Our Backyard, Search for Change, and Alliance for Safe Kids.

This program features organist Janet Yieh, Director of Music at Church of the Heavenly Rest in New York City and former Associate Organist at Trinity Church Wall Street, where she collaborated with the Grammy-nominated Trinity Choir and founded the St. Paul's Chapel Choir. Celebrated for expressive, technically assured performances, she was recognized on The Diapason's 20 Under 30 list. Her appearances span Alice Tully Hall, the Met Museum, Washington National Cathedral, Yale's Woolsey Hall, Carnegie Hall, and Canterbury Cathedral. A graduate of Yale and Juilliard, she is also a composer, an advocate for women in sacred music, and a frequent voice on Pipedreams and WQXR. A suggested donation of $20 is welcomed, and a light reception will follow.

St. George Theatre hosts a Disco Ball that brings together standout acts from disco’s golden era, spotlighting beloved dance floor favorites. France Joli delivers signature hits like Come to Me and Heart to Break the Heart. The Trammps featuring Earl Young light up the stage with Disco Inferno and Hold Back the Night. Lime brings Babe, We’re Gonna Love Tonight and Your Love. The Blue Notes revisit The Love I Lost and Bad Luck. Gary’s Gang keeps the groove with Keep On Dancin’ and Mandolay. Musique offers In the Bush and Keep On Jumpin’. First Choice performs Doctor Love and Let No Man Put Asunder. Disco Unlimited, billed as the number one disco band on the East Coast, adds live band energy to the celebration. The night also features sets from DJ Eddie D, DJ Ralphie Dee, and DJ Tito Tee, with hosting by Brooklyn’s own Joe Causi and Speedy.

Registration is open for the Tunnel to Towers Walk/Run in New York City. A large crowd is expected as participants honor the 25th Anniversary of September 11th and remember those we lost. The team Muldowney Moondogs and Watson Aces has set a fundraising goal of $250,000 to support America’s heroes and carry forward the “Let Us Do Good” mission.
