Get ready for labor, birth, and the early days with a new baby in a supportive in-person setting. These classes are intended for pregnant patients along with partners or other support people, and are especially helpful from about 28 weeks onward. The series features four core topics that repeat on a monthly rotation. One session focuses on the final weeks of pregnancy, recognizing the start of labor, and what to expect when arriving at the hospital. Another explores the birth process in depth, comfort techniques, ways a partner can help, and immediate recovery after delivery. A third session discusses common medical interventions, inductions, and cesarean birth, and includes a guided look at the labor and delivery and postpartum units. The final class centers on the early postpartum transition, newborn care, mood changes, and breastfeeding education. Participation is free. Registration is optional, and you can attend without signing up in advance. You are welcome to bring water and snacks. The classes are offered in a flexible, drop-in format, so you can attend any topic at any time based on your schedule, transportation, or child care needs. Bringing a support person is encouraged, as is the spiral-bound five chapter education booklet provided by your OB office early in pregnancy.

Sova is the project of New York pianist and composer Sophia Vastek, a second generation artist whose piano-centered work honors her roots and explores new territory, blending neoclassical, ambient, and jazz influences into a filmic sound. Amanda Rogers pairs expressive vocals with piano, sharing introspective writing and melodies shaped by more than two decades of music making. Her recent EP, 52 Hurts, reflects on solitude and resilience, drawing inspiration from the 52 hertz whale. AUK, an instrumental and improvisational indie rock quartet based in Syracuse, New York, builds expansive, atmospheric soundscapes, with a style often compared to Explosions in the Sky and Sigur Rós. Together they offer a program that moves from quiet reflection to sweeping crescendos.

Spend a lively West Coast Swing night at Dominique’s Dance Creations with a blend of learning and social dancing. The schedule features two Beyond Basics workshops with topics to be announced, plus a concurrent Newcomer Crash Course for those with little or no experience, followed by social dancing. No partner is needed for the crash course, and arriving a bit early makes check-in smoother. Entry covers all workshops and the social. First-time visitors to Salt City Westie receive free admission.
