This no-cost peer gathering provides breastfeeding guidance and resources, with a certified lactation consultant leading the discussion. New mothers are welcome no matter where they delivered, and participants can bring their babies from newborn through one year. The format is informal. Complimentary services include blood pressure, glucose, and vision screenings, one-on-one consultations and health education, connections to community resources and referrals, and distribution of fresh produce along with essential food assistance. Everything is offered at no cost, with an emphasis on compassion and an open, barrier free experience. NYFOH has supported neighbors for seven years, including providing fresh produce and nonperishable items to more than 250 families to help ease rising living costs.
