Family events in Waterloo, NY

Big rigs return to Weedsport Speedway as the American Big Rig Series takes center stage for the Page Trucking Big Rig Nationals. Back for the first time in several years, these trucks will compete on the Weedsport banks during a full evening of racing that brings Weedsport Speedway’s 2026 schedule to a close.

Festivities start Friday with an adult night game at the pavilion. Saturday features pumpkin painting, a psychic reading, food trucks and distillery trucks, and the evening closes with Rock Jester Band.

Set aside some quiet time for shared reading outdoors. Bring a favorite book, an e-reader, or an audiobook with headphones, and pack a lawn chair or picnic blanket for comfort. Participants will settle in around the library gazebo to read independently while taking in the sights and sounds along Main Street. Families are welcome, and light snacks will be available while supplies last. If the weather turns bad, the program will be canceled.

Set in Sampson State Park in the Finger Lakes region, the specialty presented by the Wine Country Chow Chow Association of NY features several days of breed-focused activities. Supported entries are planned for Thursday with Deirdre Petrie and Friday with Donnelle Richards, and designated specialties are slated for Saturday with Angela J. Porpora and Sunday with Jeffery M. Bazell. A sweepstakes is also set for Saturday. Rau Dog Shows serves as superintendent. The club will host a lunch and an auction on Saturday, and awards will be presented to the fastest and slowest chow chow at each fast cat event. Camping reservations may be sent to Sue Hassett to coordinate placement with the group. Beyond the event, the surrounding area offers lake views, wine, and waterfalls.

This supportive group serves families with loved ones who are currently or formerly involved in the justice system, offering connection, practical resources, and guidance. Youth and children are welcome. Offered by Cayuga Counseling, this community program is open to all and does not require you to be a current client.
