Smith has performed and recorded with artists including Archie Shepp, Sun Ra, James Brown, Charles Mingus, Chet Baker, and B.B. King. Diagnosed with lung cancer a year ago, he continues to play with a commitment to uplifting audiences.

Bardavon Presents collaborates with Curio Cabinet of the Hudson Valley to mark its two year anniversary with a free screening of Repo Man, the 1984 film directed by Alex Cox. A jobless rocker takes cash to drive a car out of a rough part of town, not realizing he is actually repossessing it. He then teams up with a professional repo man, and a $20,000 reward for a seized Chevy sets events in motion. The film is rated R and runs 92 minutes. Admission is free, with tickets handed out at the theater entrance on the day of the screening.

Ukulele enthusiasts of all ages and experience levels come together for a monthly jam at the Rosendale Recreation Center. Explore SoulCollage, an easy and intuitive collage practice that invites personal discovery through images. Participants leaf through magazines and other printed materials, noticing which pictures, colors, textures, and words draw their attention, then layer and arrange those selections to create one or more personal collage cards. As the pieces come together, unexpected connections often appear, and the finished card can capture a feeling, experience, quality, question, or part of the self. There are no right or wrong results, and no prior art experience is needed. The pace is playful and reflective, encouraging you to slow down and see what emerges. Space is limited. Learn to shape your own words in woodcut while exploring the fundamentals of relief printmaking. Drawing inspiration from type design and decorative lettering, participants will design, carve, and print custom letterforms, words, and short phrases.
