In honor of the 200th anniversary of Frederic Church’s birth, The Olana Partnership partners with artist Beth Rundquist for a three day plein air painting workshop set within the painter’s historic home and designed landscape. With remarkable vistas as inspiration, participants will create personal interpretations rooted in close observation of nature outdoors. Across the sessions, Beth offers guidance in drawing, composition, and painting, strengthening skills in color mixing and paint application so artists can pursue their creative goals and see subjects with greater clarity. Participants may work in the medium of their choice and will receive demonstrations that illuminate composition and the relationships among color, texture, and line. Materials are not provided. Her work has appeared in galleries including Hoorn Ashby Gallery in New York and Pamela Salisbury Gallery in Hudson, among others. Honors include the Richard and Mary Schroeder Portrait Award, the Bryan Family Foundation Award from the Copley Society in Boston, and merit awards from the National Portrait Society and Richeson. Her work and teaching have been featured in American Art Collector, American Artist, H & G, and Fine Art Connoisseur. She has taught painting for two decades, both privately and at the New York Academy of Art, leads workshops in the United States and abroad, and her commissioned oil portraits and paintings are held in private collections and public spaces around the world.

Hosted at Catskill Equestrian Center, this evening gymkhana unfolds under the lights and aims to be friendly, well run, and competitive. An end of summer celebration at Olana brings together leading chefs, refreshing seasonal drinks, and sweeping Hudson River Valley views. The event honors the season’s abundance and the legacy of Frederic Church at Olana, designated as a New York State Historic Site and a National Historic Landmark. Set on the East Lawn beside the historic house, it offers sunset vistas over the Hudson River and the Catskill Mountains.

Local parent Autumn hosts Lego time at the library for children ages 5 and up. Children can build with Lego in a friendly setting.

Rhett hosts a creative retreat in Upstate New York for working and aspiring songwriters, along with fans who want a behind the scenes look at how songs come to life. The program features workshops, seminars, open mics, group meals, and intimate performances by Rhett and special guests as they share songs and talk through their creative process. A limited number of participants can present original work in the "What's Great / What If" session and receive direct feedback from Rhett and the guests. All activities are held at Full Moon Resort. Lodging is on site and air conditioned, ranging from cozy bed and breakfast style rooms to premium cottages with mountain view private decks, Smart TVs, and elegant bathrooms.
