A Puertas Abiertas de Patricia Suarez, dirigida por Eddy Diaz Souza

    Cleveland · 2937 W 25th St

Patricia Suárez’s play follows Orietta, a strict school principal, and Ulrike, an actress seeking recognition, as they serve their sentences in a strange reading room monitored by Dr. Recayente, an ophthalmologist who examines their eyes and assigns them books. Their intellectual purgatory is disrupted by Marina, whose pact with her lover did not unfold as planned. Through confessions, tension, irony, and absurd humor, the three women’s choices come to light. Loosely inspired by Jean-Paul Sartre’s No Exit, the play explores the possibility of reincarnation and asks what it means to leave hell behind or choose to remain. Directed by Eddy Díaz Souza, it turns eternal punishment into comedy and considers the possibility of a second chance.

A relaxed art critique paired with a potluck meal welcomes the public and creators of all experience levels. Participants may bring work in any medium, whether finished or in progress, to receive supportive feedback. Guidance from ARTFUL Board members encourages constructive conversation, fresh techniques, new approaches, and varied perspectives. Bringing a dish to share is optional. Anyone not ready to present their own work can still participate by offering thoughtful insights to others. The gathering takes place in ARTFUL’s own building, with parking available in the side lot on the northwest side and entry through the main doors at the top of the circular driveway.
