    Slift

Beachland Ballroom, 15711 Waterloo Rd, Cleveland · verified Oct 2
    See details

SLIFT performs at Beachland Ballroom, highlighting the heavy, high-energy interplay of brothers Jean and Rémi Fossat and drummer Canek Flores, a friend since high school. The trio has honed its sound on Fantasia, a fourth album that trades open-ended jams for tightly focused momentum and a clear message about facing global turmoil. While writing the core of the record, Jean Fossat drew on the fiction of Jorge Luis Borges, even naming a song Orbis Tertius as a nod to that influence. The album imagines a town consumed by fear of anything outside the norm, with an arrival under a corrupted sky giving way to a back half where people rediscover individuality and the will to resist. Across eight tracks, the narrative shifts from unease to determination, trusting that hidden reserves of strength can be found when they are needed.

    Westside Brick

Emerald Necklace Marina-Cleveland Metroparks, 1500 Scenic Park Dr, Rocky River · verified Oct 4
    See details

Weather permitting, this Westside road ride follows CTC guidelines and begins with a brief safety chat before a prompt rollout from the Rock River Marina parking lot. If weather forces a cancellation, the official CTC event status is removed. Many participants like to gather for food and drinks after the ride. Only CTC members have USAT supplemental insurance during sanctioned activities. Non-members may participate, but anyone riding unsafely can be asked to stop. Participation is at your own risk. Riders should be comfortable sharing the road and familiar with traffic laws. Helmets are required. High visibility clothing is encouraged, and front and rear lights are strongly recommended. On the road, everyone follows the rules, stays out of the aero position so brakes remain within easy reach, and avoids obscene language or gestures. Hold a steady line and communicate clearly, calling out and signaling when slowing, stopping, or approaching hazards such as cars, bumps, potholes, branches, or wildlife. If you see unsafe behavior, speak up to help prevent accidents. For Westside or Southside emergencies, call 440-333-4911. For other calls, use 440-331-5530. Pacing is organized into A, B, C, and sometimes D groups to match speed and experience. The A group is for experienced group riders, building speed on the way out with higher efforts on the return. The B group typically rides around 19 to 21 mph, the C group around 17 to 19 mph, and the D group is a no-drop option for those newer to group riding or who prefer under 16 mph, with an emphasis on paceline and bike-handling skills. The D group may not form when turnout is small, and checking the CTC Facebook page can help coordinate. The ride uses a single paceline with rotating pulls. If you prefer not to take a pull, check for traffic and slide safely to the back on the left. When leading, hold the group’s agreed pace, and if you need to drop out, signal and do so safely. Have fun.

Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers bring their signature rock and roots mix to Beachland Ballroom. Fans often raise a glass together during the chorus of the song Mekong, a tradition that began when Roger Clyne spent time in Taipei as a college student, teaching English during the day and playing his guitar at night. As he prepares to release his eleventh studio album, Clyne continues to shape life experiences, inspirations, and observations into enduring songs. He is joined by drummer PH Naffah, guitarist Jim Dalton, and bassist Nick Scropos, delivering a sound that blends punk rock, Americana, indie pop, and mariachi influences. Their story reaches back to The Refreshments, the Tempe group where Clyne and Naffah mixed humor with rock and began weaving in mariachi horn lines, inspired by Clyne’s cultural anthropology studies and a Spanish-immersion stay with a family in Ensenada, Mexico.

    Sleeping Giant

The Liminis Theatre, 2438 Scranton Rd, Cleveland · verified Oct 9
    See details

After a fireworks-filled marriage proposal goes awry, the blasts rouse an ancient presence that has been sleeping in a nearby lake for millennia. What follows is a sequence of intimate, darkly comic, and at times startling vignettes that examine the lengths people will go when they are desperate for something to believe in. Originally mounted by Mark Giberson, Nathan Frizzell, Michael Matthews, and Christopher Sepulveda at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Sleeping Giant was later commissioned by Theater Emory for the 4:48 Project and further developed through Center Theatre Group’s L.A. Writers’ Workshop Festival. The play premiered with Salt Lake Acting Company and has since appeared at Know Theatre in Cincinnati, Stray Cat Theatre in Phoenix, and Rorschach Theatre in Washington, DC.

The seventh week hosts group-elimination finals played over three games per round using 5/3/2/1 or 5/3/1 scoring, where the top two in each group advance, and a final four play one more round to determine placements. Dana and Alden

Grog Shop, 2785 Euclid Heights Blvd., Cleveland · verified Oct 2
    See details

Dana and Alden bring their Papas Boat Tour to Grog Shop, celebrating a new album shaped by early memories, far reaching travels, and the people who influenced their music. The duo builds its sound around Dana’s saxophone and Alden’s drums, grounded in jazz while folding in touches of indie, pop, rap, funk, and more. Earlier releases set the stage for this wide ranging style, and this chapter leans into bold ideas with a gentle touch. The album’s namesake is their maternal grandfather, affectionately called Papa, a retired engineer involved in manufacturing the first Fairchild semiconductors and an avid sailor. A photograph from one of his trips to Asia, where he stands in worn jorts looking toward the horizon beside a boat named Sŵn y Mr after the Welsh translation of Sound of the Sea, sparked the concept. The music aims for open waters rather than staying landlocked, reaching for freedom and expression in his spirit. This show is all ages. Tickets are $22 in advance and $25 the day of the show, with an additional $3 at the door for attendees under 21.
