The celebration continues at City Lot 6 with the fourth annual Great Pumpkin Drop alongside family-friendly fall festival activities. Costumes are welcome for a festive night filled with light thrills and plenty of sweets.

Local historian Mike Gilbert presents a History Roundtable at Spiegel Grove, sharing stories from local and national history as part of a six-part Saturday series in September and October. This session explores a true crime case connected to founding father Alexander Hamilton. In 1799, Elma Sands was murdered, and the highly publicized 1800 trial, defended by Hamilton and Aaron Burr, drew widespread attention to lurid courtroom drama and helped lay groundwork for the true crime genre popular today. Set within a property that began in 1890 as the home of Jerome Bihl and his wife, the story of the manor spans generations. By the 1920s it belonged to Clarence and Daisy Wolfe. Clarence died within the house in the 1940s, and Daisy passed away in her bedroom in the 1960s. It later operated as a children's group home for three decades, a period marked by constant turnover and hardship. After the facility closed in the 1990s, a succession of owners stayed briefly, leaving after encounters they could not explain. Today the site is regarded as one of Ohio's most active paranormal locations. Investigators and overnight visitors often describe a dark, human-shaped figure in the upstairs hallway and parlor, sometimes seeming to watch from the doorways. The meeting spot is behind the Seneca County Collaborative, behind Reino's and Wild Bunch Wellness Bar. All supplies will be provided, including trash bags, brooms, dustpans, and gloves. Everyone is welcome to help, whether arriving solo, with a friend, or as part of a team. Teams may include businesses, neighborhood groups, faith-based organizations, civic and service groups, clubs, families, and individuals. Groups can take part through Bunky’s Litter League, a community-wide initiative focused on litter cleanup and beautification. Registration for volunteers is requested. This effort aims to make Downtown Tiffin sparkle for the holidays.

Explore the first floor of the Hayes Home during an open house, where rooms feature light, historically accurate decorations and staff are available to answer questions. Take a short, lighted walk through the grounds, enjoy the Hayes Train Special model train display, and see the museum. Admission, including the Hayes Home open house, is free.
