    Self-Protection Training Seminar in OHIO

    5131 W 140th St, Brook Park · verified Aug 22
    See details

Build practical self-protection skills with a two-day seminar at The Brigade Shooting Company focused on awareness, decision-making, and hands-on practice to help you safeguard yourself and those you care about. Saturday begins with Ground Zero, a session devoted to escaping from the bottom when pinned or overpowered. Using leverage and mobility drills, you will learn to control space, protect yourself from strikes or grabs, get back to your feet, and break free. After a brief break with Q&A, the Retention block concentrates on managing distance before using any tool and keeping control of it if an attacker closes in. Expect high-repetition training and movement patterns that sharpen tactile reflexes, improve leverage, and reinforce strategies for controlling, disengaging, and retaining what you carry in close quarters. Sunday opens with Flexible Weapons, where everyday items such as belts, scarves, or rope become adaptable defensive options. Training emphasizes control, leverage, and responsiveness so you can apply simple, effective techniques in unpredictable situations. After another break with Q&A, Knife Level One and Two address the realities of edged-weapon threats. You will work empty-hand responses to common attacks, learn to manage distance, control the weapon-bearing limb, and create opportunities to escape or counter. Repetition and shared movement patterns help develop functional skills that translate to both unarmed defense and responsible knife use, building tactical awareness and confidence under pressure. This seminar is open to participants ages 13 and up. Pricing is tiered by registration period. One day is available at $89 for early purchase, $129 for standard registration, or $199 late. Both days together are offered at $149 early, $198 standard, or $339 late. Instruction is led by Guro Larry St. Clair, who brings more than four decades of experience in martial arts, combatives, and fitness, with ranks and credentials across Jeet Kune Do, Filipino Martial Arts, Muay Thai, Savate, MMA, and BJJ. He has operated large training facilities, coached champions, and earned world titles. His specialties include performance training, nutrition coaching, personal protection, and edged-weapon defense, and he is recognized for tailoring methods to each participant’s abilities and goals. He leads Martial Way Legacy in Austin, teaches internationally with Martial Arts Research Systems, serves as Director of Education at Core Concept Coaching, produces online courses in fitness, martial arts, and self-protection, and is a long-time instructor with the A Girl and A Gun National Shooting Organization.
