After a brief break with Q&A, the Retention block concentrates on managing distance before using any tool and keeping control of it if an attacker closes in. Expect high-repetition training and movement patterns that sharpen tactile reflexes, improve leverage, and reinforce strategies for controlling, disengaging, and retaining what you carry in close quarters. Sunday opens with Flexible Weapons, where everyday items such as belts, scarves, or rope become adaptable defensive options. Training emphasizes control, leverage, and responsiveness so you can apply simple, effective techniques in unpredictable situations. After another break with Q&A, Knife Level One and Two address the realities of edged-weapon threats. You will work empty-hand responses to common attacks, learn to manage distance, control the weapon-bearing limb, and create opportunities to escape or counter. Repetition and shared movement patterns help develop functional skills that translate to both unarmed defense and responsible knife use, building tactical awareness and confidence under pressure. This seminar is open to participants ages 13 and up. Pricing is tiered by registration period. One day is available at $89 for early purchase, $129 for standard registration, or $199 late. Both days together are offered at $149 early, $198 standard, or $339 late. Instruction is led by Guro Larry St. Clair, who brings more than four decades of experience in martial arts, combatives, and fitness, with ranks and credentials across Jeet Kune Do, Filipino Martial Arts, Muay Thai, Savate, MMA, and BJJ. He has operated large training facilities, coached champions, and earned world titles. His specialties include performance training, nutrition coaching, personal protection, and edged-weapon defense, and he is recognized for tailoring methods to each participant’s abilities and goals. He leads Martial Way Legacy in Austin, teaches internationally with Martial Arts Research Systems, serves as Director of Education at Core Concept Coaching, produces online courses in fitness, martial arts, and self-protection, and is a long-time instructor with the A Girl and A Gun National Shooting Organization.

    See details

A Westside group road ride meets at Emerald Necklace Marina-Cleveland Metroparks, weather permitting. If a cancellation occurs, the Official CTC Event designation is removed. Participation is at your own risk. CTC members have USAT supplemental insurance during sanctioned activities, and non-members may ride but may be asked to stop if their behavior is unsafe. Riders should be comfortable on public roads and understand traffic laws. Those who need a refresher are encouraged to review resources from Bike Cleveland or attend a cycling skills clinic. Helmets are required. High visibility is recommended with front and rear lights and brightly colored apparel. Obey all traffic signs and signals, keep brakes immediately accessible rather than using an aero position, avoid obscene language or gestures, hold a straight line, and communicate clearly when slowing or stopping. Call out hazards and speak up if you observe unsafe riding to help prevent accidents. Multiple pace options help match ability levels. The A group is for experienced group riders, building around 20 to 22 mph on the way out with harder efforts on the return and it is a drop ride. The B group typically targets about 19 to 21 mph. The C group, sometimes called B minus, usually rides around 17 to 19 mph. The D group is no-drop for those learning group skills or riding under 16 mph and includes guidance on pacelining and bike handling. When turnout is very small, the D group may not run. Listed speeds reflect group riding, which is often faster than riding solo. The ride uses a single paceline with short pulls at the front. Maintain the agreed pace when leading. If you prefer not to pull, safely rotate to the back on the left side. If your speed does not match the group, communicate with the lead and drop back rather than changing the pace at the front. Signal before leaving the line and make movements predictably. Enjoy the ride. For Westside or Southside emergencies call 440-333-4911, and for other calls use 440-331-5530.
