This hands-on program focuses on identifying edible plants native to the region and covers summer plant identification, responsible harvesting practices, awareness of similar species, and simple ways to bring wild foods into everyday cooking. It is designed as an educational outdoor experience that deepens understanding of the local landscape and the food it can provide. Instruction is led by herbalist and foraging educator Jim Sayers, founder of The House of Life Botanicals and chapter leader with Herbal Allies, Herbalists Without Borders. Culinary partner Chef Yiota, owner of Ely’s To Go, provides seasonally inspired boxed lunches that reflect ingredients available in the area. The program takes place on private property in Liberty, Ohio, with the exact location shared after tickets are purchased to protect the landowner’s privacy. Activities occur primarily outdoors. Participants should dress for the weather, wear long pants and closed-toe shoes suitable for uneven terrain, and be prepared for natural conditions such as mud, insects, and changing temperatures. This class is intended for adults ages 18 and older. A commitment to Leave No Trace principles guides the day, with an emphasis on sustainable, ethical foraging, minimizing impact, and respecting habitats and local regulations. Space is limited to support a quality learning environment. This is a prepaid RSVP event with advance food preparation. All sales are final, tickets are transferable with advance notice, and the program runs rain or shine.

Marking its 15th anniversary, this three day celebration of Slavic heritage fills The Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre with music, dance, food, and community spirit representing 14 Slavic nations. Live performances span traditional tamburitza and folk ensembles to lively polka and contemporary bands. Featured artists include Od Srca Adult Tamburitzans, Veseljaci, Noćne Sove Tamburitza Orchestra, Living Traditions Folk Ensemble, Radost, Selo Croatian Ensemble, ZAPS, Harmonia, The Chardon Polka Band, Mon Valley Push, No Funk No Justice, Bob and Brian, Sokyra, Da Polka Bums, Mikey Dee, and more. Festival traditions return with a Parade of Flags and opening ceremony, a blessing of the food, the ceremonial tapping of Modern Method Brewing Company’s Rodina beer, and the Vatra bonfire lighting followed by a spirited dance jam with Harmonia, The Chardon Polka Band, and friends. The event welcomes collectors, vendors, athletes, gamers, comic enthusiasts, and families, offering a full day built around hobby fun and a holiday toy drive that connects donated toys with autograph opportunities from athletes. Coleman's path to the blues followed early years fronting the folk rock group Cole-Connection, then a turn as a gospel singer in the Williamstown Theatre Festival production of A Raisin in the Sun alongside Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Viola Davis, Kimberly Elise, and Gloria Foster. With encouragement from Santiago-Hudson and inspired by the blues collection Men Are Like Streetcars, she launched Misty Blues, a project that has endured for a quarter century. A build-your-own pasta fundraiser in support of Campbell Cruelty & Humane Rescue takes place at East Side Civics. Customize a plate by choosing a sauce such as red, Alfredo, or garlic and oil, pair it with spaghetti, macaroni, or rigatoni, then add a protein like meatball, chicken, or shrimp. Every dinner includes salad, bread and butter, and dessert. Dine in or take meals to go. Rescue-themed beverages will be available for dine-in guests, with more details to come. Adult meals are $15 and children’s meals are $7, and each purchase helps the organization continue its work for dogs and cats in need.

Westside BowlRadical Release Yoga
Settle into a 60-minute, floor-based yoga class devoted to easing stress from the body with focused care for joint mobility and tight muscles. A thoughtful mix of breathwork, somatic exploration, and gentle yoga helps you notice what you are holding and learn practical ways to release it. This practice supports consistent self care and nurtures a kinder relationship with both body and mind. The pace is calm and exploratory, inviting a deeper connection with your own awareness. All levels are welcome and the environment is inclusive. Bring a mat and water, come with friends if you like, and arrive with an open, positive spirit. Sessions take place on the first and third Tuesday of each month. This class is offered at no cost by Honeycomb Arts and Wellness Collective, with optional donations of $5 to $20 appreciated to support community work in art, culture, and wellness. Contributions can be made in cash or via Venmo at @honeycombartsandwellness.

Brady Lorince, a 14-year-old pop and rock artist from Lakewood, is known for an energetic live set and releases like The One That Got Away. Dysphoric Void, an all-queer pop metal group connected to the Pittsburgh and northwest Pennsylvania scene, blends harsh, female-fronted vocals with big anthem hooks. Resist the Urge delivers female-fronted metalcore from Cleveland. Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 the day of the show.
