Sew Easy: Intro to Pattern Making

Bend · Freak'n Art, 1265 NW Wall St

Advance your sewing practice with a four-week, intermediate series devoted to flat pattern skills. Using your own measurements, choose to develop a skirt or pants and draft a made-to-measure pattern from the first lines to a finished template. Lessons cover accurate measuring, common terms and tools, drafting methods, simple fit refinements, and how to build a garment from the pattern you create. Enrollment is capped at four to ensure focused support at each step. This class is designed for sewists who can confidently operate a sewing machine and follow commercial patterns, and who have completed the Pajamas for Beginners course or have similar experience. Bring no materials to the first meeting. Fabric and any additional supplies are discussed then, and you will bring them in later sessions. Machines are available to use, or you may bring your own. When you register, note if you plan to bring a machine and whether you will make a skirt or pants. Recommended for ages 12 and up. By the end, you will leave with your own custom pattern and a stronger grasp of how garments go together, ready to continue refining and designing.

Bend · Volcanic Theatre Pub, 1375 NW Commerce Ave

Parallel 44 presents Skeleton Crewe at Volcanic Theatre in Bend, OR, bringing together five seasoned improvisers for a night shaped by Hawaiian slack key textures, exploratory pedal steel, and deep rhythmic interplay. The lineup features Jay Lane on drums and vocals, Rob Barraco on keyboards and vocals, Barry Sless on pedal steel and electric guitar, Stephen Inglis on slack key and electric guitar, and Pete Sears on bass. Their collective résumés span Dead & Company, Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros, Ratdog, Dark Star Orchestra, Phil Lesh & Friends, The Dead, David Nelson Band, MoonAlice, Jefferson Starship, Hot Tuna, and collaborations with Billy Kreutzmann and Dennis Kamakahi. The Beaver Den - Beaver Book Club

Bend · Dogwood at The Pine Shed, 821 NE 2nd Street

This monthly book club reads, evaluates, and discusses published research about beavers, using primary literature to examine how they influence other species and environmental processes. Group discussion helps make technical writing more approachable and encourages curiosity about methods and observations. This session focuses on the beaver and wolf dynamic, drawing on a study from Voyageurs National Park that captured a wolf preying on a beaver. Conversation will explore how wolf presence may alter individual beaver behavior and how those shifts can scale to ecosystem effects. It will also consider what trail cameras can show compared with other forms of evidence, along with ideas for future camera based studies. The featured article by Freund, Gable, Homkes, Jensen, Patchett, and Bump, published in Ecology and Evolution in 2025, analyzes video documentation of a wolf killing a foraging beaver and places the observation in context. Hosted at Dogwood At The Pine Shed.

    Not'cho Grandma's Bingo

Bend · Silver Moon Brewing, 24 NW Greenwood Ave

Board House Society brings Not'cho Grandma's Bingo to Silver Moon Brewing, pairing high energy games with a community-focused fundraiser. Revenue from reserved tables and single seat tickets supports The YOUNI Movement and the ongoing work of Dusty and Stacia to encourage authentic, joyful living. Choose between reserving a full table for a party of 4, 6, or 8, or selecting an individual seat at designated tables. A seating map labels each reservable table and marks where single seats are placed so you know where your group will sit. If you are celebrating a special occasion, include a note during checkout. Reservations admit only the number listed for that table, and any additional guests will need a larger table reservation or a separate single seat. Advance pricing is set at $13 per person. A four person table totals $52, a six person table totals $78, and single seats are $13 each. General admission is free without a ticket, may be limited on busier days, and is available on a first come basis at unreserved tables. To play, a Bingo Bundle is $30 per person and provides two cards per game across six games for a total of twelve cards. You can purchase more than one bundle before play begins. Additional cards are offered before each round. Most games are $2 per card, and the blackout jackpot round is $5 per card. Optional extras are available for groups that want added table touches for birthdays, anniversaries, bachelorette parties, family reunions, or staff celebrations. Refunds are offered when possible if you need to cancel. Larger parties have a longer no refund window than smaller groups, and if a canceled reservation is resold a full refund is issued. Requests within the no refund window may be considered individually. Board House Society’s mission centers on empowerment through skateboarding, creative expression, and community, fostering inclusion and resilience through skate, art, film, competition, and other creative outlets. The YOUNI Movement focuses on creating spaces where people can show up as themselves, feel safe, celebrated, supported, and experience joy. Additional support is welcomed through an optional donation ticket. Handcrafted anointing oils by Dusty and Stacia may also be available as an add-on, sometimes infused with Oregon sunstones or obsidian, using stones they have personally collected.
