In 1974 he played a key role in making street performance legal again in Seattle after many years of prohibition. Seattle Metropolitan Magazine has counted him among the 50 most influential musicians in the city’s history. His songs have been interpreted by artists such as The Doobie Brothers, Christy Moore, Dick Gaughan, Michael Hedges, and Roy Bailey. Folk icon Utah Phillips praised him as the messenger who can deliver the message.
