Known for incisive guitar tone, soulful vocals, and a commitment to excellence where every note counts, he continues to earn the respect of audiences and peers alike. Over the years he has shared stages and studios with John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, B.B. The official Lowrider Magazine super show and concert, presented by Jarritos and Monster Energy, arrives at the Portland Expo Center for a full day celebrating lowrider culture and music. Attendees can look forward to standout builds from across the country, live performances by NB Ridaz and Lighter Shade of Brown, and additional artists to be announced. Competitions include a lowrider hopping contest along with awards and trophies, and more activities throughout the day. Over $15,000 in cash and prizes will be on the line. Beyond the main show, RC Blvd showcases remote controlled car displays, there will be shopping with vendors, and plenty of food and beverages available. Jerry's Middle Finger carries forward the spirit of the Jerry Garcia Band with a warm, communal stage presence and a deep dedication to the music. Formed in 2015, the lineup of Garrett Deloian, Rodney Newman, Son Vo, Jon Gold, Halina Janusz, and Lisa Malsberger has grown from Los Angeles club shows to appearances at renowned rooms like Great American Music Hall, the Troubadour, The Ardmore, and Garcia's at the Capitol Theatre. Their concerts highlight the feel and connection of the originals, with studied tones, gospel-tinged harmonies, and keys that nod to the classic sound while keeping the experience fresh. The setlist shifts from night to night, spanning favorites and rarities from the Jerry Garcia Band and related projects, from songs like Deal and Cats Under the Stars to deep cuts tied to Legions of Mary and collaborations with Merl Saunders. Downtown Sounds, a new summer music series in downtown Beaverton, blends live music, community, and local flavor. This installment spotlights Longshore Drift with a high-energy set in an inviting outdoor gathering space. The series continues through the summer with a range of local performers that showcase Beaverton’s creative community.

Set atop The Society Hotel in Portland, this free rooftop music series pairs sunset city views with rotating, handpicked DJs performing live, genre-blending sets. The open-air setting creates a relaxed, social atmosphere that feels like a midweek reset in the heart of the city. Beverage options include craft cocktails, local beers, hard kombucha and seltzer, along with coffee, matcha, and other nonalcoholic choices. There is no cover and no RSVP is required. Capacity is limited.

Enjoy a relaxed afternoon of traditional Irish and Celtic tunes in the Butterfly Garden at Cook Park. Players gather for a slow to moderate session in a spacious, scenic spot, creating an inviting atmosphere for making music together. The group meets on the lawn near Shelter 4 at the garden, choosing shade or sun as the day calls for it, and moving under the shelter if rain arrives. These gatherings run weekly from June through September, weather permitting. Pack a chair and your instrument. Typical acoustic voices include fiddle, concertina, guitar, bodhrán, tin whistle, flute, and mandolin. Anyone in the circle can suggest the next tune or set. The emphasis is on playing by ear and from memory, although checking sheet music is acceptable. A TrailJams tune of the week may also make an appearance. This is a musicians’ session rather than a formal performance, though people in the park often pause to listen or settle nearby. The surrounding park offers trails, trees, and riverside spots for a walk or picnic before or after the music, and there is ample room for companions to explore while tunes are underway. There is no strict end point, so if the music is flowing the session may continue a little longer.

Enjoy a serene afternoon at Lan Su Chinese Garden, where blooming lotus ponds set the scene for live guzheng music from Lu Wen. Disney's Newsies brings the grit and heart of New York City's historic newsboys strike to the stage at Deb Fennell Auditorium. The story centers on Jack Kelly, a charismatic teen who rallies fellow newsies after a publisher increases distribution prices at their expense. United across the city, they organize a strike, stand up to bullies, and fight for fairness. Lively choreography and rousing songs highlight the spirit of friendship and the power of standing together. Music is by Alan Menken, with lyrics by Jack Feldman and a book by Harvey Fierstein. The musical is based on the Disney film by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White and was originally produced on Broadway by Disney Theatrical Productions.
