In 2024 she began wearing a portable EEG each night and keeping a detailed dream and sleep journal, while collaborating with researchers studying circadian timing, the claustrum’s role in coordinating slow waves, and a sleep physician focused on midlife sleep disruption. Drawing on this work, Crick presents figurative paintings shaped by her own sleep data, illuminating deep sleep, REM, and bouts of insomnia. The event invites a fresh look at the hidden nighttime processes that help memories form, shares perspectives on why some scientists compare REM to therapy that happens during sleep, and offers a few practical ideas for calming a 3 a.m. thought loop.
