    The Gold Star Game

Harrisburg · Landis Field, 4600 Locust Ln

At Landis Field, the 12th annual Gold Star Game brings Central Dauphin High School Football and the CD Rams Cheerleaders together for an evening that blends competition with remembrance as Central Dauphin faces the Cumberland Valley Eagles. Each Central Dauphin player and cheerleader is paired with the family of a fallen service member, carrying that hero’s name and story throughout the night. In a signature tradition, the names heard over the stadium honor the fallen being represented rather than the athletes on the field. Within the program, being chosen to represent a hero is regarded as a profound privilege. The event highlights the cost of freedom and recognizes Gold Star families for their courage, their love, the sacrifices they have made, and the legacies they safeguard. The atmosphere centers on gratitude, unity, and lasting remembrance.

Free Youth Heart Screening Ages 10-22

    Harrisburg · 626 Rutherford Rd

    Free

Students ages 10 to 22 can receive a complimentary heart screening intended for those who are not currently under the care of a cardiologist and who have not been screened before by The Peyton Walker Foundation. The visit typically lasts about an hour. Participants have vital signs recorded, including blood pressure, height, and weight, undergo an electrocardiogram, and are evaluated for heart sounds and possible murmurs. Each family meets with a healthcare professional to review the results, takes home a copy of the EKG, and receives a summary of the visit. In some cases, based on family history or EKG findings, roughly one in ten students may also have an echocardiogram. If an echo is needed, plan for an additional 45 to 60 minutes. This additional test is also free. Register in advance and select a time slot. Bring printed, completed copies of the Heart Screening Consent, Waiver, and Medical Microsoft Form on the day of the screening.
