No prior experience is required. Each participant may work on one or two plates as time allows, selecting a 7-inch or 10-inch plate during registration. Participants will weave a single basket using a provided mold between 3 and 5 inches, finished with a solid cherry rim and base. All tools and materials are supplied, including cane and reed, so the basket you complete will be ready for finishing. Expect approximately 3 to 5 hours of weaving during the session. The reed is about 1/4 inch flat oval, and the cane measures 2.25 to 2.50 millimeters in width. The thin, lightweight weaving materials are easy to work with and pack neatly using a pushing tool. The United States Army Field Band Jazz Ambassadors are the Army’s touring big band, a 19-member ensemble founded in 1969. Many of those originals are offered as free downloads through Perspectives, the ensemble’s jazz education initiative. Guests can visit the White Rose Sugar Art Competition and then attend the banquet at Wisehaven Event Center, which is five miles from the York County School of Technology, the site of the cake competition.
