Salsa on the Bridge returns for Summer 2026 as an outdoor salsa experience on the Providence Pedestrian Bridge with Del Alma Dance Company. Whether someone is new to salsa or already loves to dance, it offers music, movement, and community with the Providence skyline as the backdrop. No partner is required and all levels are welcome. Comfortable shoes and positive energy are encouraged. Registration is available by scanning the QR code on the event flyer. Held on Friday evenings, this gathering brings salsa, community, and culture to the heart of Providence.

Her voice first turned heads in 2002 with the debut album Waking Hour, leading to features on NPR’s Weekend Edition and The Late Show with David Letterman, as well as a run at the top of Amazon’s charts. Since then she has built new sonic worlds with each release, from the string-kissed warmth of Warm Strangers, to the whispering jazz textures of Dreaming Through the Noise, to the adventurous scope of Inland Territory, to the gleam of Aims. She also composed the original stage musical The Fourth Messenger. Listeners may hear echoes of Paul Simon and Tori Amos in her adventurous craftsmanship, yet her sound remains unmistakably her own. Teng’s curiosity reaches well beyond the stage. She stepped into graduate study and climate solutions work with the University of Michigan’s Erb Institute, McKinsey’s sustainability practice, and the nonprofit Delterra, while also growing into parenthood. Those multifaceted years shaped her intricate 2024 project We’ve Got You, a pair of songs designed to interlock while still standing individually. In 2025 she was named to Grist’s 50 climate innovators to watch for building a “music x action” community that helps fans take real steps, from buying a first e bike to launching workplace green efforts or helping change local clean energy policy. Her workshops in music venues on tour are known for sparking momentum, offering energy and hope when it is most needed. This concert highlights an artist whose craft and conscience move in harmony, inviting listeners into songs that stay with them.

British singer-songwriter James Hunter returns with a six-piece band, featuring music tied to his new Easy Eye Sound release, plus the chance to hear crowd favorites and more from his long-running catalog. Doors open in the evening, followed by the show starting at 8:00 PM.

Summer Salsa Blast 2026 returns to the Providence Rink with an evening centered on music, dance, and community, presented in partnership with Providence Parks. The music keeps the energy up with a mix of classic country, pop, R&B, and rock, spanning traditional favorites and chart hits from artists like Ed Sheeran and Pitbull. This is a free community gathering, and tip donations are appreciated. For comfort, bring supportive dancing shoes and a water bottle, and invite friends to share the fun.

At The VU Lounge & Bistro in Providence, the mic is open for karaoke fans to take the stage and sing the songs they love. A free 90 minute concert features The Jesse Liam Band performing pop favorites with lively energy. Presented by the Parks and Recreation Division with support from Coastal Credit Union, My Greene Team, Pamela Hughes, Bandits Baseball Club, Dupuis Oil, and The Washington Trust Company, the show takes place on the stage in front of Daggett Farm and Len’s Hot Dog and Seafood Haven in Slater Memorial Park. The band is a frequent guest at Slater Park. During these performances, Parks and Recreation staff collect canned goods and other nonperishable food items to support the Blackstone Valley Food Center in its work fighting hunger in the Blackstone Valley. Valley Vibes brings a summer meetup to the WaterFire Arts Center roof deck with Sessions PVD at the helm, a Providence street photography collective shaped by local photographers Rafaeks, Winslow, and TJP. Recognized for community photowalks and zine releases, the group infuses the gathering with a collaborative, street-focused perspective. DJ Krews provides the soundtrack as day turns to evening, keeping the rooftop lively. Hi Bar Lo Bar serves handcrafted cocktails on site. This historic setting, long host to renowned performers and many celebrations, offers an inviting backdrop for music, community spirit, and summertime enjoyment. Tickets are $10.
